Every fisherperson goes thru a funk, i pro fished for 20+ yrs chasing everything from trout , barra, mackerel, cray and even crab and prawns and have had a few times where i thought what am i doing wrong, truth is , nothing, i had 1 day in the middle of the trout spawn where everyone else around me were pulling trout after trout and i couldn't get a bite, in fact by lunchtime the other dory men were up around 100 trout each to my 3, then i jag hooked a 15kg mackerel in the eye and landed it without a gaf, end of day tally was other dory men average 190 each, me 180 for the arvo, things can change at the click of your fingers mate, i personally think we have an energy that passes down the line when we are feeling a bit down or worried that turn the fish off and as soon as you can shake that feeling everything falls into place and brings on the fish, best thing i can tell you is remember that fishing is meant to be fun, there is no pressure to catch a fish unless it's your job, just enjoy the fact your out in gods country, tight lines and hope you crack a stonker soon mate

Monday I paid good money and went on a day charter to shady camp and you know what mate even with the charter not a single fish between 4 people was landed, all week not one fish. So it can't be that bad I just spent thousands being up here to get burnt 😂 keep up the good work mate and push on.

Tell you what mate... You had an ordinary trip but one time... I went with a good mate to Kurrimine beach NQ. We went out and couldn't catch a thing. His sounder played up a little and then gave up the ghost. Nothing, it had lost all of his marks that he had spent years collecting and this was at least 11 years ago so no backup saved. When he realised what had happened he, in disgust, started the boat and turned for home but my line was still in the water and he wound the entirety of my line around his prop. He built some real character that day.

@MikeyCunninghamFishing5 жыл бұрын
Me too mate. I really hope so.
@michaelbrown85455 жыл бұрын
Well you got the 1st step to catchin Barra sorted, you cant catch em sitting in the pub😁. Only one thing to do when you don't catch anything and thats go fishing again 👍 One real important part of the puzzle in the NT is water temp, drop below 25 deg C and your task gets a lot harder. Trailer tyres are a pain in the arse, if you do big kilometer trips change them every couple of years and ony use lite truck tyres, check air pressure every time you pull into the servo for fuel or once a month. At least you didn't travel 3 days to spend 3 weeks fishing in the gulf for almost a doughnut after blowing 3 tyres on 2 trailers and 4 tyres on one vehicle in 2 days plus a radiator fan failure taking 2 yours to fix followed by a blocked fuel filter requiring a tow for 4 hours to get to the next town and that was just the trip up. Or the trip when the new Hylux left its engine all over the Barkley high way on the way up. Yep gotta love fishin😁
@MikeyCunninghamFishing5 жыл бұрын
Mate the water temp was almost 29 degrees, so we thought we were going to have a great day. But it wasn’t to be. As more stories come out in the comments like yours I am starting to realise that our day wasn’t all that bad in the scheme of things. Haha.
@michaelbrown85455 жыл бұрын
@@MikeyCunninghamFishing the up side is the year before we bagged out in the 1st week, the year after I blew the gearbox in the out board on the 1st days fishing but after cleaning the big chunks out we limped around for another week and on one day me and my 2 boys bagged out and the other 3 boats with us caught zip all fishing the same creek trolling the same lures. ive had similar things happen on a trip were i had both tyres blow up and the spare wheel was rusted to buggery so i left my brother at the boat while google maps kept leading me to places that were closed (due to it being easter). once i found a place and got new wheels i chucked em on the trailer and headed on my way. about 30 mins later one of the U bolts literally snapped so i had to repeat the same process i went through to get the tyres. eventually we made it to our fishing spot. we easily spent 8 hours there and i couldnt land a single thing whilst my brother beside me was landing jack after jack. to top off my day i slipped in the boat in an awkward position to avoid the knife beside me and ended up landing and snapping my brand new shimano zodias rod that i literally bought 2 days before. Also nice video mate, hope you end up getting more luck with future trips

Mikey, I don’t have any superstitions but I should have after the last 4 years. It all started with having my foot sliced open at a council boat ramp. The wound cost me over 6wks in hospital and 4 months off work and 8cm3 of my foot. For the next 8mths my mates had to pretty much carry me at work and I couldn’t get back in the boat for that time. Every year since I have had a reoccurring infection in the same foot which has pretty much kept fishing and boating on the back burner. However, above all of the scuz things are on the way up if COVID can stay away 3 of my mates and I will soon be at KAB following in your footsteps. I will show you good from everything bad that happened in this edition. Superstition.......Bullshit to that. Rob.
