Superteam 50mm carbon fiber fixed gear wheelset - first impressions

I haven't ridden these things yet, so just my first impressions while I mount the tires.
Ordered from Superteam golden store on Aliexpress. You can get a huge range of carbon wheels made if you choose the right item and message them, these are specced as 700c, 50mm, Novatec fixed gear hubs, black nipples, black spokes, 16t cog. Seller was responsive and it took maybe 10 days for the wheels to be built, and another 30 to make it the US.

I've had some time to put some mileage on the wheels and I'm convinced I'll just buy these any time I need a wheelset. I only really have mountain bikes and a walmart fixie to compare them to, but the hubs are buttery smooth and I feel like the bike takes only 3/4 of the effort to cover the same distance as my walmart bike. Still really impressed.

I bought a set of these and I tried to destroy them for 5 years. I rode with a strava (because) and I put 11000 miles on them over those 5 years with one bearing rebuild. The wheels passed all my expectations.

11000 miles, that's incredible. I maybe have a tenth of that, great to hear the long term viability of them.

thanks. may you tell me which weaves do you pick for this wheel? the option I found are UD, 3K, 6K, 12 K. I like it with no decal. very nice

@@richard_franks is that 3k or 3k twill.. I really like your choice... I assume this is mate black no the glossy one.. also which tire do you use?

@@rikitasrianto6872 I believe it's just 3k - I didn't specify either 3k or 3k twill though, just told them I wanted 3k. I had my detailer friend treat them with a gtechniq ceramic coating, so they might be a little glossier than how they left the factory. I used Pirelli P Zero Velo white edition tires.

Nice video! Just curious, did you know that there are amazon sellers that sell this wheel? If so why did you go with aliexpress?

I saw the wheels on amazon, but the ones configured like I wanted them were sold by "queen bike" I think and I wasn't positive if they were made by superteam or not. There were a bunch of others under superteam name but all had either decals or a road bike cassette. Figured I'd try aliexpress and msg the seller what I wanted just to see how the process would go, and to make sure I could get exactly what I wanted

After 300 miles the rear wheel makes noise all the time I'm on the bike I do not understand it all the time makes noise I got a message to the company we will see what they will do it's wrong

No decals. I specifically asked for that when I bought them on AliExpress. Seller allowed a lot of things to be specified and that was one

I've had them for a year or so now and took them on a 100 mile ride, other than that just random stuff around town. I can't say enough good things about them. They still surprise me with how smooth they are when I take the bike out for a spin. I think you'll enjoy yours too

@@jacobibarrondo6263 I run a front brake on it with some SRAM pads for carbon wheels and it has worked great, no noticeable wear along the brake track of the wheel

They're still really good. Super smooth and they look great. I took the bike out for a rip earlier and it's still impressive to me just how good they are.
