Such a shame you don't get shows like this anymore because MONEY has ruined things like this ever happening again. People in the comments slating Geoff Capes have obviously never competed in any sport their entire lives, guy is passionate, a competitor and a winner. R.I.P a complete Legend and will always be missed.

'You don't see many black athletes who can swim." A comment well worth making, that one. Hats off.

Never saw this originally. But fascinating, to see how people that are normally either team sport players, or individual sport players adapt to these things, and conditions. The basketball really showed how weak individual sports people are in team games, where soccer players are used to constantly pressing, and finding space for each other, as a norm in there sports. Fascinating competition that shows the difference between the two different types of sports people, ie those who play in teams, vs those who compete by themselves as individuals.

So good the athletes won. The footballers narrowly won 4 events. The athletes destroyed them in the other 4. By far better overall.

Yeah, I caught it too. Today, that commentator would be fired for what he said. But in those days - that was the attitude, trying to mean well but still failing by today's standards.

Ron Pickering referring to the footballers as The Soccer players, how many English people call it soccer? David Vine on the other hand calls them footballers.
@BritishRaceCaller Жыл бұрын
The use of the word soccer as a diminutive of Association Football goes back to the 19th century in the UK. But ignorant people just claim it is an "Americanization" of the English language.

Today I learned that black people can swim. Thank you Daley Thompson. The casual racism of 45 years ago just seems so ... quaint. I dunno.
