I don't think it's that surprising, they just took the same animations and applied higher detail models without going back and tweaking many of the animations, infact some of the characters have broken animations on their face and eyes in the xbox version. Feels a little more soulless compared to the N64 version.

I have to say, while I do prefer the original version overall, Live and Reloaded is still so impressive to me, graphically. It looks like a 360 game but it’s running on the OG Xbox. The N64 game is technically impressive for it’s hardware, but it’s still identifiably an N64 game (which is completely appropriate for the game), but when looking at L&R, I have to sometimes remind myself it’s the OG Xbox. Anyway, it’s a really nice remake. It’s a shame it was censored so much.

The original Xbox was actually a very powerful system compared to the ps2, but a lot of games didn’t get treated well since they had to look the same on both systems. When you look at a lot of exclusive games on the original Xbox it’s stunning how close to the 360 they can be, especially cartoony games like this one.

BFD is a tongue-in-cheek 3D platformer playing off various tropes or conventions of 3D platformers on the N64, at the time the N64 version came out. The presentation of the N64 version is just much better suited for that experience because it’s literally an N64 game that looks like Banjo-Kazooie. Live & Reloaded loses some of that satirical edge by looking not much at all like an N64 game (though it’s still obviously Rare’s style) and not even being on a Nintendo console. For me, that’s what makes it my less-preferred version, and that’s fine because that’s _my_ preference. I like L&R, so take your stone throwing elsewhere, sport.

I grew up with the N64 version and played this game countless times on both version and the Xbox is objectively a better single player experience. Especially with the superior controls. N64 had the multiplayer that is a masterpiece going for it tho and i love both at the end of the day

I like how The Mighty Poo in the N64 version had the scrolling textures on it and the environment, it made it look way shittier :p Also the echo in his song is way too loud, the instrumentation is louder than the voice, and I swear the voice itself sounds different and also less clear in the Xbox version. However I am surprised that the xbox version looks really really good for its age, especially for an early OG xbox title.

I agree, the tempo of the Xbox version seems slightly slower and I don't know if it is that echo effect messing things up, but some of the words seemed to be expressed better in the Nintendo 64 version. I presume they were trying to be more realistic having an echo in the cave, but it made the song worse to me, and that is without taking the additional censorship into account.

I feel like the camera work in N64 was just done better For example the intro starting at a close-up on Conker's face Or when he is leaving the bar and it swaps to the face of the monk guy when he's mad Also the Xbox one being too zoomed in during the bee's crying, so he looks up even if his thought bubble isn't above his head anymore I do like the camera work better in the Xbox for the catfish scene though, it's not ALL worse or close the same Graphics wise, the Xbox's is indeed impressive but I can't help but feel it lost a little of it's cartoony charm with it, there are improvements to designs I like, and others I don't, for example of ones I like, the iron box given little cube teeth, or giving the queen bee running mascara, the weasel's glove change Examples I dont like: The rat's eyes looking more 'realistic', Conker looking TOO fuzzy, the hay having noses, all the catfish having glasses... I feel like if someone made an inbetween Improved graphics but keeping the cartoonish look the original had going (Which they did ,amanage to do with the iron boxes, pitchfork, paint can and brush already!) It would be perfect Animation wise I just like the original's better for the most part, there are some decisions I liked better in the remake, like Conker waking up from his drunken stupor in the beginning laying flat out on the ground, when he puts his hands up to call for the money in the catfish' vault, and his animation when sliding into the caveman arena But for the most part the comedic timing, like when Conker is throwing knives at the Pitchfork and it pauses as opposed to Xbox's where it doesn't Or Birdy's animations in general Are just far superior in the original It again just feels like another part of remake for some reason having to be less cartoony I'll include this in this portion but also the executioner's scene in the barn, in the original the gag is easy to tell and see, but in the remake, the hatchet is smaller and not being held out and I honestly was like did they remove it?? Before I rewound and looked closer. Another positive since I don't wanna be overly negative, I think they gave the king's guards better animation in the scene where they're asking you for money and you don't have enough I do also think the catfish were given more personality in theirs, And the animation on the "big guy" with the fire imps, really just a lot of the more smaller characters I feel they improved on animation wise where they originally had fairly little (Facial expressions are a different story) Sound wise I only have one comment on I think they were onto something adding reverb to the great mighty poo boss, they just added a bit too much

No entiendo porque en la version de xbox se olvidaron de agregarle las expereciones faciales de la n64, son muy superiores, incluso algunas animaciones salen mejor porque no le ponen ese efecto lento, la misma iluminacion del fuego es obviado en la xbox, fijense que en la de 64 los personajes se siente el movimiento de la artorchas y eso es otra cosa, las velas iluminan mas en la de xbox que una altorcha wtf, también el ojo del científico sobresale más, osea los mismo personajes sobresalen más en n64, las burbujas de texto son mejor identificables en n64, si realmente es mejor graficamente en xbox pero esos detalles faltan
