Hey great lesson wish I had found this one sooner. Been playing and eating your video/lessons for 3-4 months now..... I was able to pick this up by ear and playing in under 10 mins. I had one quest. Judging buy the info I just provided what level of player would u say I was or close to. I am off work due to a disability and have been putting in 5+ hours a day in practice time, and not once have I ever been bored or sick of playing ..... I have to force myself to take a break. ...... Thanks for all the great lessons cheers.

Hey, I can hear C note in the upper part of second chord (1:08). That means you are playing 234 blow instead of 123 blow?
@TomlinHarmonica4 жыл бұрын
Totally, you can play around with adding extra notes on the blow chords because the notes repeat themselves all the way up the harp. The blow notes are tuned like this - CEGCEGCEGC.Well spotted!

Thanks so much! you are a great instructor and musician! Is there a reason you end on 2 draw rather than 3 blow?
@SeanKane-n6d2 ай бұрын
What key harp?
@JohanDroeshout4 жыл бұрын
Hello Tomlin, great lesson, as always. A question, though. I have always wondered why we have to play the 2 draw instead of the 3 blow, which sounds the same (but it seems you never use it). Instinctively, to me it feels easier e.g. here in Lick 2 (3.45) or Iick 3 (4.21)
@sagnikpaul18114 жыл бұрын
The thing is it doesn't Sound the same. The draw note can be blended with a bit of bending, which makes it bluesier. Also, you can chug while drawing in 2nd hole. There are many other reasons too.
@stephenglazer42244 жыл бұрын
On lick #1 do you first draw on the third note. Then on a second breath draw and bend? Or do you draw once and after you play the note bend it from there on the same breath? Just starting out and I have to say thanks for all the great videos. Awesome stuff!

Hi Evaldas, thanks for getting in touch. I’m afraid I tend to focus on beginner to intermediate players. You should check out Jason Ricci’s videos for some advanced lessons :-)
@PepJuice6 жыл бұрын
What does "second positon" means please?
@johntaylor93816 жыл бұрын
PepJuice Evey harmonica can play in several keys, but only two are ever really talked about. So in the case of a C harmonica, when you blow into the first three holes you are making a C chord, and you are also playing in a C major scale. When you draw on those first three holes you are playing in a G major scale. That’s second position (cuz C was first position). If you need to know what second position is on any harmonica just count up five letters in the alphabet (C, D, E, F, G) and that’s second position. I’m probably not explaining it well enough. Just Google it.

Transitioning quickly between holes 1-3 separates the good players from the wannabees. I'll stick to slow blues and the kin for now unless I get a gene transplant from Paul Butterfield!
