So about half way through the video i was like, "The AI video with the real but scripted voice is really weird"... then the end of the video happened. body movement would be nice.

@@snowcrave Yeah, unfortunately with the program I use, the wider the region, the weirder the movements get (and the worse the facial mapping works). It’s generally just intended for facial animation. I’m hoping to get more programs involved eventually, but from what I’ve seen, whole body mapping is a lot more GPU intensive and my computer struggles as it is.

There have been a few rude comments about the use of AI in this video. I initially hid the comments to keep things civil, but I think it’s worth addressing. I’m open about the fact that I use AI as part of my process, knowing that some people have a knee-jerk reaction against it, whether or not they know much about it. To some, it’s easier to have a black and white view of things, and I’ve come to accept that. But life isn’t black and white. This video was written by a person. It was voiced by a person. The faces were animated based on a person’s facial expressions. The AI-generated images were prompted and subsequently edited by a person. And the two incredibly rude comments I hid (which I can’t figure out how to unhide) were read by a person. I’m that person. Gen AI is neat, because it allows one person to do the things that they otherwise wouldn’t have the resources to do. It’s really cool to be able to make little projects like this, as just a guy working on his own. And I think it’s sad that some people feel the need to lash out because they’ve blindly taken in some memes about anything involving AI being bad. You don’t have to like AI. You don’t have to watch my videos. You don’t have to enjoy my work. You don’t have to laugh at my jokes (my wife sure doesn’t). But I implore you to have a less black and white view of the world, and remember that there’s a real person on the other side of your screen. No jobs were lost in the creation of this video. Without AI, it would simply have been a worse video, or it wouldn’t have been made at all. Criticizing a big company for replacing paying jobs with AI is one thing, but attacking small creators (in this case, tiny creators) for using a tool to uplift their projects is, in my opinion, just silly. I think the video turned out okay, and I’m pretty proud of it. This isn’t my first time getting negative comments, and I won’t let it deter me, but I hope that in time, those who feel the need to attack others for using a tool they don’t like learn to be less dogmatic in their beliefs. Dogmatism is not the way to truth. Anyway, that’s it for my spiel. Thanks for watching. Stay safe, stay sane, and stay smilin’.
