The difference is the cooking style. This is Malay style or Nasi Melayu. Nasi Kandar is Indian Muslim style. The curries are a bit different. There are however crossover where you can find Nasi Tomato at Nasi Kandar stall ... and Nasi Biryani at a Nasi Melayu stall.
