I need a extra deep socket. Let's build one. I can't find one. I found a cheap socket and it is very soft steel. Part it in two on the lathe and weld each half to a pipe. Very simple.

Great new tool. I have had to disassemble a water tank with that type of straps and connectors, can be tough. The new tool should work great.

I miss titled the video. It should have been supper socket. We should talk. I have some ideas but I'm not sure the best way to put this thing back up. Its 26 feet high with about 16 foot boards on the bottom and 10 on top. They stager shorter boards so the top interlock with the bottom. Thanks for commenting Randy. You're the person that would have an idea of how to erect it.

Burr! Thank goodness it does not get that cold here. Nice to be able to build your own tools when you need something and it is not available.

You got that right! I have about 100 nuts to remove with is. I started making a hex die holder to chase the threads. Thanks Tom.

Hi Kimber. I don't know. Maybe. It's a piece I haven't come across in my time. Thanks for stopping by.

First comment and it's been solved. Yes it's a silo, 100 years old. Wood stave silo. More to come on that but progress will be slow. -24 Celsius -11 Fahrenheit this weekend

-27°C... Bah! Too cold for me. But your XXL socket looks good. Btw, I will never win the 4-jaw competition either :-)

There was a bag of them at an auction in around Clayton, 30 years ago. The auctioneer called them silo band connecters... I thought they were cool but stopped bidding at $10.

Exellent Tim. The parts are from a wood silo. That is a better name than mine. I started making a deep socket for a thread chaser today. Lots of rust on the threads.

@@JourneymanRandy ya, I've got 4 or 5 extended sockets, like that, and I've thought about a thread chaser, but never got around to one of them...

Funny I have never made one before. Now I have two. Very handy to have. The lathe did a nice job.

Chris you are reading my mind. That would be very handy. I don't know why tool manufacturers dont sell a complete set. It's great to hear from you happy new year.
