Counting out the strides in the gait, which you mentioned in another video has really helped. I hadn't ridden in 39 years and my core is not what it was back then due to lack of exercise.

I like both of your perspectives! The release of the bit he so emphasizes is pretty important I think because what else is the horse working for?? If it's not in our minds we can get so off track (& frustrated) trying other things.

Yes the release is so important!

Horse learn from the release.. People- like Amelia says have a hard time breaking their bad habit of not releasing.. In order to get there the human needs to start practicing releasing.. This is why riders should do work in hand with a snaffle bit and practice Bauchers flexions because - tah dah- after each flexion the rider releases..so they have experience giving to the horse. best Bruce Peek

I have a now 22 year old retired mare whom I tried dressage with and no matter how many saddle fitters and lessons correct riding this mare would never round. The eventual diagnosis was kissing spine. She has a long back and her confirmation made it very difficult for her to round even with correct riding. She is retired now not ridden and have a young prospect with better confirmation and easily goes round and forward. I believe conformation has a key role in what you’re saying here.

it can certainly be an advantage to help them with a natural clear rhythm!

How do you feel about elastic neck stretcher as a training aid for lunging?
@AmeliaNewcombDressageАй бұрын
I try to avoid using training aids and focus on using groundwork or riding patterns and figures!
