Great overview! It is very true that one of the major factors is a profound lack of visibility, especially in big import countries like in North America. This leads to inaccurate customer order promising when we have major delays in Lead times for ocean and then again with land when trying to move volume off the port. There are many tech companies working to address this problem but it is complicated and expensive to adopt and integrate into the legacy enterprise systems. An obvious solution would be to diversify the supplier mix by working with domestic suppliers and manufacturers but it seems no major company is really considering this. With the amount of inflation to come because of rising transport costs, would be interesting to see how these options compare

Hi Jay! Thanks for sharing your point of view. What do you think that holds back this supplier mix diversification? Slow and rigid processes? Higher sourcing costs? Or because domestic supply don't offer yet the product mix and volume available in Asia?

​@@abcsc Yes I think a combination of all of the above. Consumers have not fully "felt" the impact of the inflation while companies are expecting the transportation costs surge to subside within a shorter time horizon than it would be worth investing more domestically. However, backlogs are still really not improving and transport rate reductions are slow to respond. Will be interesting to see how companies respond after feeling the pressure from customers as it all shakes out
