I used to be an A category guy. 18 yrs across 3 multinationals awarded 3 consecutive years best sales guy and employee of the year yet was never acknowledged by my boss and always credit was stolen for all the work I did. He kept rising but I was just getting awards but promotions were never on the cards for me. I got frustrated to the core and then left and started my own busuness for the past one year. Today I have a team of 20 people with two other partners with me. I kept struggling on the people handling part as I guess I was never taught how to handle people. This video gave me the critical understanding of what went wrong when I was working and how I should be looking at my people when I lead today. Thank you so much. This was Gold.

This will not work in real life scenario, because A type people work with A type company. And some businesses can’t afford to pay more so they get what they pay for. Appreciation is okay but at the end only one thing matter is how much you are paying. And one more reason A company not only pay your more but give you better perks, facilities and work life balance. Which 70% companies failed to give.

If they are A players and bringing in business, why not pay them equivalent to A type company? These people are like 4-5% of your entire workforce, so you can afford it easily.

A doesnt mean top company and b means low company ... ! A, B, C grade is among what you have ... A for a tea shop will be someone who can knows the process, sales and looks after old customers and gets new customers. B will be limited with lesser capability and commitment, C maybe new apprentice or serving boy, only tea maker etc . Each company has A, B, C according to its value. You are getting the meaning wrong ... nobody is asking an IITian or Harvard Mba to work in new start up or small company ... ! Similarly big and top companies with same IITians and Harvard Mba will have A, B, C category employees

Wrong! First of all, in every collective there are A-B-C types of people. A does not mean an abstract super hero. It just means that A is better than B. Some C from a A-class company will be an solid A in a C-company. And second, all we know that the world is not fair. There are people who deserve to work in Apple, but they work in some shitty place just because of circumstances. And there is always a bunch of absolutely useless employees sitting in the upper tier companies - this is how the real world works. Although, indeed, in average it works like the richer company - the better employees

Rajiv - invaluable video and thanks for the insight. I have two questions,what do you do with the top left B candidate that keeps vasilating and don't own the challenges that were given but continues the damage and stakeholder damage? Second question is - if you are the team A member but not getting recognized - what do you do?
@Rajiv.Talreja10 ай бұрын
If you are an A player and you don't get recognised, you can have a conversation with the Management about how you feel... The tone of this conversation is most critical... It needs to be shared as a concern for which you are seeking a clarification and not a complain where you are blaming the management... Unfortunately many leaders fail in acknowledging the value of their A players... If the management is open and responsive, you will see a change in their expression of acknowledgement... But if they are short sighted and you experience an unhealthy backlash for expressing your concern then that's an indicator for you that you are wasting your talent in the wrong workplace...
@Rajiv.Talreja10 ай бұрын
If a B Results player has behavioural issues and is causing damage in culture and relationships at the workplace then it's important to call out such behavioral by articulating the impact of the behavior... Feedback has to be balanced and real... If the person even fails to acknowledge their own behavioral challenges, again it's enough evidence that this person lacks intent and integrity...
