I think I saw one player using them when I was climbing on KC cup last time aka not the February 2023 one. The only KC cup I DLv Maxed was full of them. I just don’t have the desire to play that many duels generally. I got it with Phantom Knights.

@@MrDrageno Koaki have had a few playable cards throughout time in various Rock themed strategies. The theme did get a Pathetic Aesthetic installment, famously referred to at one point as "Kentucky Meiru", and most of the cards in the deck are very bad.

I do admit it is far from the best deck since you do usually have to keep your monsters alive by dumping iron core in the end phase, but there are alternate ways to save them besdes that. Thank goodness someone at Konami turned on their brain for a moment and realized how utterly stupid it would be to rely solely on iron core and nothing else to save your monsters. They also have some really good level 4 monsters if you can keep them alive (At least, good for the time). Urnight, Bergzak, Crusader and the negation quartet come to mind. And of course they have diamond core which is probably the best support card koakis ever got: a powered-up version of E - Emergency Call that can be banished to essentially become Toon Kingdom for the deck for a turn (minus the targeting protection and constant banish cost of that card). But yeah, before I go on too long, I'll just say that the deck is definitely feeling its age given that it was invented over a decade ago and a good chunk of the monsters (Looking at you, War Arms) are almost if not entirely pointless, but it is an interesting attempt at making a deck mostly revolve around a single card if nothing else. Final fun fact, the booster pack that introduced Koa'ki Meiru? Far from the worst archetype introduced in that set of cards. That same pack also introduced friggin' Earthbound Immortals to the game. What a wonderful pack, yeah?

@@granmastersword In his debut duel with Judai, when Judai summons Flare Neos and Johann responds with Last Resort to activate Rainbow Ruins, Judai brings up that he was worried for a second that Johann's trap was something that would destroy Neos. Johann responds, saying that he doesn't have anything in his deck that destroys his opponent's cards because he wants to see their strategy in its entirety and battle it with his own. This statement is kept consistent in that every duel he has, he is never shown to play any cards that go against it (unless you count Yubel brainwashed Johann using cards like Grave Squirmer or Thousand Buster, which you shouldn't)

Red-Eyes seems to have this issue where they have all of these tools about graveyard set up, putting bodies out and searching...without anything to do with them...The only graveyard effects come from Meteor and Wyvern. The only XYZ is Metal Flare and you are locked behind bars using Red-Eyes Fusion. If instead of searching for Red-Eyes Fusion, Meteor Dragon allowed you to Fusion Summon by banishing it then at least an issue would've been solved. And of course, Blue-Eyes keeps getting an updated playstyle every year while Red-Eyes Soul is a perfect imagery of what they archetype looks like. A crippled dragon.

I just wish red eyes fusion worked like ness fusion where sure you can’t special summon after you use it but the difference being you can save it as your last special summon for the turn. It would certainly help since, discounting red dragoon, none of the red eyes fusion cards are worth being your one special summon for your whole turn.

I just really like the weird tumors that grow off of Red Eyes. Red Eyes Zombie. This archetype has 3 cards in it that it basically can't use, but are pretty good in zombies. They could have been called anything else; Dead Eyes, Skull Black Dragons, Bojangles the Rock 'n Roll Clown, but no. Red Eyes. Summoned Skull and Friends. Summoned Skull is... barely an Archfiend, it gets invited to Archfiend house parties to be polite, then it brings Red-Eyes as a +1, and everyone gets quiet. Gearfred. Remember that time Joey played a monster that couldn't be equipped? Remember that other time Joey got a weird card that let him fuse equipment spells? What if those things and Red Eyes got crammed together. What if you just put Axe of Despair on a red eyes in 2023? Toon. Red Eyes Toon Dragon is really good, to the point that I've seen Toon decks run a couple red eyes support cards to help it. This is funny to me, like a deck realizing that since it wants level 2s, Ojamas can fit in. And all of these different directions mean it's funny to see cards that almost work together. But then don't.

I feel like the main issue with Vendreads Ritual Monsters is the fact that their Ritual Monsters. The archetype is about the materials being used to evolve the virus, so you’d want them on the best monster in your deck. Why Rit summon scavenger or chimeria with the ability to Banish 1 ss monster and backrow quick effect, when the inherent design about them is tribute fodder? But even worse is they don’t boost the monsters they are ritual summoned for, and being Ritual monsters, must first be Ritual summoned themselves before you can SS them from the GY. And Scar is basically the vendread you’ll use to get those guys out and any other Vendread you just need a beat stick for. Honestly the best part I like about him is the Gy affect since it I want some of my dreads banished. What we need is either a Ritual Vendread that transfers it’s inherited effects to the monster it’s used for. Or a lvl 1 vendread that “if this card was normal summoned can be used as the full material cost for a vendread ritual while on field”, so you can either use it to get a beat stick out, OR have it be a small boost (cause imo vendreads love using more mats for a ritual summon since those mats give them more effects).

Since you don't do regrades, I'll step up. Crystal Beast: Consistency 4. The CBs are still bricks but the vast majority of your hands are perfectly fine. Power 5. Getting a squad of massive beaters like Accesscode is very easy, and Overdrive speaks for itself. Comeback potential 3: Golden Rule can summon from GY and summoning Overdrive will punish anyone that broke your board HARD, but if your opponent is careful they can get around them. Protection: 2 the best they have are the pendulums wich don't do much and clog the backrow, you rely more on negation to stay alive instead of the protection. They also get screwed over by handtraps ever once in a while, wich they have no real answer to beyond shotgunning Shifter to disable Droll, the most annoying of them. Versatility 5. There are literally hundreds of possible variants and you can easily stack the negates of Apollousa, Rainbow Ruins and/or Crystal Miracle and some choice floodgates like Fossil Dyna Pachicephalo in any of these variants to confront basically everything.

I kind of love how much support the most iconic and unique (read: jank but in an endearing way) GX archetypes have gotten recently. All the Neos support (including the Chazz'd up variant just announced, like, last night) and the structure decks for Cyberdarks and Crystal Beasts (and Dark World, I guess) is really damn cool. I love seeing one of the most infamous eras for the card game getting such huge steroid injections right now to bring them sort of up to speed.

@@kidvega0450 Yep! Armed Neos got announced yesterday and I absolutely love how much it looks like a fan-made create-a-card.

And the effects are essentially stuff that both Armed Dragons and LV monsters do. First effect let you destroy all of the opponent's monsters which levels are equal or lower than a dragon in your graveyard, and the second effect let you tribute it to summon a Neos fusion monster, treating it as a fusion summon

@@granmastersword Yep. Honestly it feels more like a Jun/Chazz card because it's literally just "fine, I'll let you fuse my monster with yours. But he keeps the effect, slacker!"and I kind of love that. Like how Cyberdark End Dragon was Kaiser merging his own ace monsters and making it FGD levels of strong and immune to certain effects like a kid playing make believe on the playground

@@Monroah After actually looking at the card I can agree, the GX support this year has been great between Fossils getting printed, all the Cyber stuff, Armed thunder, it’s great. GX got treated like duel monsters this year for real for real. Now can we please get Yubel support? Also if I can be honest, I don’t like the second effect. I think it coulda been fixed if it was either something a little more generically devastating like “If this card destroyed something by battle, you can shuffle one card on the field into the deck” or some sort of summoning from the GY or hand of an armed, Obama, or normal Hero monster. Idk, the second effect just feels a little too Jaden for my taste compared to something like say Rainbow Neos.
