My son has been stationed in Okinawa for four years. Okinawa has endured many typhoons in that time. The base housing is extremely well built to withstand these typhoons. I don't have money to give, but I can lend the suggestion that when rebuilding takes place, maybe these types of structures would be the best. They may not be luxurious, but they are so well built, that during the typhoons, the families don't have to evacuate to shelter. They just sit tight and wait out the storm. It's a thought.

rodger so That may be true. But if the money is made available through contributions that they are already asking for, then maybe there would be less to rebuild, and more lives saved in the future.

What’s the population of BVI, 25 000? and GDP per capita? I understand it’s you home, but your and Sam’s attention to this is disproportional and your pleas for donations feel out of order. Other refugee crises and conflict areas have a stronger need and deserve an equal push for common action. Party crashed in paradise just does not resonate that well with my empathy genes.

Party? These are people's homes and businesses. One out of 3 people rely on tourism as their primary source of income.

Viktor Egelund Puerto Rico is about 3.4m and the Virgin Islands (UK & US) about 300,000. There are other population centres to add.... they are nearly ALL homeless, without water, food, shelter, clothing, jobs, electricity, communications.....this isn't about Richards back yard. It's a humanitarian disaster of epic proportions. Your response says more about your jealousy of Richard than ever it could about your humanitarianism. Google some post Irma pictures and get your wallet out, donate, do some good....
