@@GueVonez they are; its a special version of the P3 recon aircraft used to chase storms and used to fly into them. They also have a military version of a Gulfstream G4 for high altitude atmosphere testing. They use these P3s in the clouds and eye because the rain can flame out the jet engine of the G4 due to its intake. The G4 is also more vulnerable to wind changes at low speeds while gathering data. This is what they use to predict its path.

Most of you who fly have probably been in winds of a similar speed to a hurricane. A 787 self generates a 500 knot wind over the airframe and flys in jet-streams that can easily be 200 mph.The reason you don't notice is because a 200 mph wind at 35000 feet generates a fraction of the force of the same wind at ground level due to the large drop in air pressure at cruising altitudes. This P3 is in no danger from the wind speed, only rapid changes in wind speed which would cause turbulence.

I remember the 3 hurricanes that hit florida back in 04 right when I moved there. My GF and I didn't even have an apartment yet, we were staying in a hotel and the eye of the hurricane passed over us, it was so tranquil compared to the rest of the storm (obviously) but I remember looking out the hotel door up at the sky and literally seeing the circle, it was so surreal and weird. 1st time I had experienced hurricanes.

i was an intern on this plane when this video was shot. the reason everyone is so quiet is because one of our engines went out and we were all terrified that having only one engine wouldn't be enough through that storm.

Ha, we sat this out in our home on St. John, U.S.V.I. The edge of the eye passed over us and it calmed down to about 100 mph winds as the eye passed by. It was 270 mph winds for 4 hours before and 4 hours after the eye. Made for one hell of a mess the next morning when we opened the doors.

according to my knowledge....eye of storm is in ground level and it is most powerful and pressurized while the cloud portion is less effective and pilot can survive in the tornadoes upper portion but not in the middle portion and ground level and another amazing fact is cyclones are not forms in equator but the corolis force is 0
