I like these changes I'm just a little sad wifeleaver's pull has a slightly longer cooldown

While I'm on the side of liking the life grip cooldown increase, I can understand why it would upset players. It still is like an "Immortality" ability and if they are going to nerf Immortality field and Suzu, it makes sense why Lifeweaver's life grip would be adjusted too. Glad to hear you like the other changes though! I like a lot of them too and hopefully the devs can keep up the good patches!

No this patch was horrible bc it fundementally fails to address the issue with supports as a whole. The survivability and sustainability, the lack of skill-dependent inputs for value and the discrepency between those ideals not matching. Supports feel bad to play against because they counter everything without a skill-dependent input and there isn't any counterplay. You can create an amazing kill scenario using skillful positoning and accuracy, perfectly timed cooldown usage, and wait.. it doesn't matter. Kiriko can press E. That's not fun. It won't ever be fun because Immo Abilities don't fit in this game. And there are four of them. That's just one sprig of the issue, by and large support gets too much value for too little skill. Like Pylon health nerf does nothing because the issue is that you can tuck it somewhere that's basically unshootable and camp that position, and because it heals so much that is very difficult to fight against and takes very little skil to set up. Nerfing cooldowns has a doubly negative effect. It reduces the amount of fun supports have while not fundementally addressing that the issue is the function of the abilities and not the frequency. In a perfect world, supports would work like Genji vs Cassidy. Deflect vs Nade. Your value counters certain value but doesnt cancel it. Like how Ana SHOULD play,, but doesn't because of the OP support passive that reduces a lot of the resource management supports used to have to do. Imagine a scenario where instead of instantly healing up whnever you stop taking damage, you have to spend your resources to.. survive. Suddenly, you don't need 45 micronerfs to self sustaining abiliites and all these micro nerfs to Ana when the real issue is the free value she gets by simply being outside of the teamfight and being able to heal while still dealing damage. It's OP. The support passive is the first step. Then rework most of the Immos and Life Grip to not be shit abilities that invalidate all of the DPS and Tank abilities without any skilled inputs. Give supports unique functional abilities that promote their playstyle and give them protection options without simultaneously making them the core defining aspect of the team, which the tank should be. But that's not how Overwatch is. It's always been a support centric game since GOATS.

Nice patch ! Just something i don't agree with : sym getting 25 more hp has a reason : she has to be close range to use her left click (and heros with this kind of ability need more hp to live the close range : reaper, cree, mei, etc...)
@Kamiroon
@Kamiroon Жыл бұрын
You make a good point. But for me, I think Sym's secondary fire can provide a whole lot of value too because of it's damage and It allows her to stay further away from the fight if need be. Plus she also still has that ability/passive where if shes shooting a shield/barrier she'll be regenerating her own shield health too. I feel like this change was to lower the numbers and deal with a little bit of power creep she's received in some of the OW2 patches. And in my opinion I think she needed the health decrease because of this.

@@Kamiroon I don't say it's unbalenced, but yeah, there was a clear logic behind it (mei can also recover hp, and reaper has lifesteal as well) But overall i think it's a fine change, i'm fine with sym only being map dependent.

Not enough balance for the rest of the supports, actually, Ive prefer the Samito take

While I do think the changes are nice, I definitely like they could have been a little bit more aggressive with the changes towards them. They seem kinda safe. But I'm with you on Samito's take (I'm thinking it's the one from the Group Up Podcast, right? I'm not sure if his take has changed in own personal videos on the topic). I also liked SVB's ideas for support changes too from that podcast.

This is one of the first patches where it feels like there isn’t any character that’s really strong now(but probably because barely any of the characters got buffed) The zen changes are really interesting, he’s my friends support main so I’m curious what he thinks about the changes
@Kamiroon
@Kamiroon Жыл бұрын
Yeah, not many buffs went around this time. But I think that's okay though for right now at least. There's many heroes in the game that have just constantly been buffed to deal with another problem caused by a different hero. And if the game needs to nerf some heroes back down to then reevaluate/re-approach buffs, I'm all for it! Personally, I think supports could be tweaked a little more too, but I can't complain about anything we got in this patch. And I'm with you on the Zen changes, I've always wanted them to address Discord orb so regardless of the other stuff, I'm happy to see that get nerfed. I do think your friend will probably have fight against some muscle memory when it comes discord, since he won't be able to reapply it to same person for several seconds lol.

Very mediocre patch as usual from the ow devs :) Hopefully (Prolly not) this shows that they realize how overbearing support is and are trying to reign it back, even tho these cd changes did almost nothing, the zen change is really nice we need more like those
@Kamiroon
@Kamiroon Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that was my overall feeling too. I appreciate the nerfs to cooldowns on supports regardless, but supports still seem too strong. It's kind of a "better than nothing" type of patch (besides the Zen nerf). We'll have to wait and see if they do continue this trend and hopefully they don't backpedal. However, I do think that the problems in the game (tank is unfun, support too strong, all numbers way too high, etc.) need more than hero balance patches to fix the game.

I personally like the zen nerf and think its healthy for the character, good zens wont notice much a difference, the monkey brain put it on the tank ones will, On the other things, i really hope this shows more nerfs are coming and that support players wont say this is too much and to stop here (Ive been seeing lw players saying hes ass now??????????)@@Kamiroon

I like the Zen nerf too, anything that nerfs Discord Orb is good lol. But I definitely wouldn't say Lifeweaver is bad after his nerfs. His healing numbers were insane compared to everyone else plus adjusting his life grip makes sense especially with the other immortality ability nerfs. He is still great and whenever I have a lifeweaver on my team, I'm not like "this is a throw pick" cause it's not! Regardless, let's just hope they eventually start to talk about the state of tank. Because the devs have yet to even acknowledge that, they've only mentioned that support was too strong.
@cuppy1199

I think that tank fun is directly linked with supp power, once supports get a real nerf (nerfing the actual ability not the cd) we'll be in good shape i hope@@Kamiroon
