The hub mount issue of the adapter coming off on an AR rifle like the dude off camara said can be resolved with this great invention....ROCKSET. HUB mounts will always be superior. Just run a direct thread adapter on it, and that's it, but you're not locked in on a system forever and can change with the times.

I definitely use a liberal amount of rocksett, but still not my favorite. I actually like the new Sierra 5 specifically for giving you a blind hole so you can pin and weld mounts on if you want to. Again, the flexibility is obviously nice and it's clear why it is the standard, but something about a good old surefire mount really gets me going. - Fitzy

I never understood the strange belief that direct thread had a difference in POI each time you install/uninstall. The male and female threads have a single point where they begin to engage, and they should technically always clock exactly the same each time. Taper mounts literally rely on this same phenomenon for their repeatability, only that they use a taper to dissuade the can from backing off. What i have found with taper mounts is that depending on how tight you twist them, they ABSOLUTELY can clock slightly differently. Stuff like antiseize can also change how much a "hand tighten" clocks them. Not so with DTAs. It hits the shoulder and stops. Full stop. If you use a thick antiseize and proper torque, it will dissuade vibrations from backing the can off.

The thing about QD is that is adds both length and weight. A dead air Keymo+muzzlebreak add 2/3 lbs to the end of your rifle which doesn’t seem like Much but when it’s way out in front of you the torque can make a big difference.

Do a deep dive on this subject but bring up your opinions on running a 30 cal can with smaller calibers. I'm poor and I'm trying to figure out what I should get first. 30 cal to shoot on my one 30 cal rifle that I don't shoot that often or a dedicated 556 can for the rifle I shoot the most. I'm going for dB reduction btw.

Dedicated 5.56 ... in the past there weren’t as many 5.56 cans and they didnt offer much of a boost in performance. But now there are many 5.56 cans that offer great performance over using a 30 cal, plus they are usually lighter and smaller.... youll end upgetting one anyway, (cans are addictive and youll end up wanting a 5.56 one) might as well start with the one youll use the most, than you can start to save ip for a .30 cal
