According to the Hindu Succession Act of 1956, a son has no right to his father's self-acquired property unless he can prove that he contributed to the property's acquisition and is a co-owner. However, if the father dies without a will, the son can claim his right to the property. A son is considered a Class I legal heir of his father's property and has an equal share in his father's self-acquired property if the father dies without a will.
