@edisontrent6182 жыл бұрын
@@ryanthompson525 Yeah, if you ever have two or more people building T3 air, it's always a good idea to consolidate similar units (have one person control all the ASFs, another have the bombers/gunships) and make sure to do actual military things, like set coordinated times for strikes, for example: "Okay, I've got 20 Strats ready and more building, send half your ASFs towards when the game timer hits 46:20, and I'll follow with my strats and then you send the other half of your ASFs to guard them." and make sure they acknowledge it and are ready on their end. Though, if the map itself is large enough that ASFs can take too long to prevent a gunship/bomber snipe, the main air player should sometimes split off small chunks (10-20) of ASFs to give to players to keep hovering near they're commanders, especially ones with gun coms on the front lines.

At 32:15 Masaja69 was killed by gunships from NoobDragon. Edit: Finished the cast, and I have to repeat what I said in the last game - I really don't like how this game allows turtlers to beat their opponents without even leaving the comfort of their shells. Arty/Novax spam is lame, both unfun to play against and unfun to watch. Nukes are okay mainly cos their counterplay (anti-nukes) is so much more effective. But all the T3 and T4 artillery, as well as the Novax Center, are just cancer to see at work imo. I actually support RTS games allowing turtling to be an effective strategy, so I'm certainly not coming at this from the Starcraft perspective. However turtling should be in order to build up an overwhelming force that then goes out and actually ENGAGES with the enemy. You know, actual fighting. It should never be about sitting in your base and pummeling your enemy to death with long-range weapons. Passive victory is hollow victory imo, even if if requires heavy eco-ing.

@UnknownKnower22 жыл бұрын
I have to admit I used to agree with what youre saying. I especially didn't like DualGap for this reason. But allow me to make a counter-argument: While SupCom games in casts are often great dramatic struggles, but they're more often then not resolved by T4 artillery. And there is justification to this both from the perspective of (1) principles of real warfare and (2) of game design. (1) Its often the case in real warfare as well, that a lot of the tactics revolve around not what will be the most dramatic, but the most powerful technology on the field. Since the dawn of time, warfare technology has progressed along a central defining theme: kill your enemy from greater and greater range without putting yourself in danger. Thus, while the sword has always been a symbol of warfare and is fun to watch and duel but almost all historians agree that the sword was a lot inferior in terms of battlefield performance in history in comparison to the king of ancient warfare: spears. Why? Because spears are cheap to manufacture and exemplify the theme of war technology; stab your opponent from a range while staying safe. Spears, meanwhile, although they had their merits against swords, but in terms of Kill-to-death ratio, often lost against archers. In the 18th century, when muskets were invented, the range of warfare increased further and guns made obsolete all spears and bows and swords became ceremonial as they were outranged. By the start of the 19th century, napoleanic era, only cavalry could charge a musket position and soon even that became obsolete and synonymous with futility (think "charge of the light brigade" in 1854 Crimean War) because guns were capable of mowing down cavalry. Guns were following the philosophy of kill your enemy from further without putting yourself in danger established by spears. Later, in 18th-19th century the invention of cannons to the battlefield slowly took over. Soon enough, artillery became the decisive factor in both land and naval combat. As artillery improved, Napoleonic tactics were utterly obsolete and by the time of WW1 in 1914, nothing except static trench warfare was possible. Trenches were built in fear of...you guessed it... artillery. By the time of WW2 in 1939, the maturation of air power fulfilled the role of artillery but with more precision and flexibility and... you guessed it, range. In fact, air power was used, among other things, to hunt enemy artillery and mobile artillery (tanks). Although artillery was still used, air power inflicted more damage and deaths (the bombings of london, the bombings of Germany, the bombings of Japan are famous examples) killed more people than artillery ever did. In naval combat, the artillery of the battleship was made utterly obsolete by airplanes launched from carriers or land bases, which scored orders of magnitude more kills. Another technology which had good KD ratios was submarines. And then... at the end of WW2, we invented the nuclear bomb. By the 1960s, air power armed with nuclear bombs were the only weapon that mattered. By the 1970s-1980s, ICBMs meant that no near-peer superpowers could engage in direct warfare anymore because nuclear missles were the ultimate spears; kill enemy from long range without putting yourself in danger (except that when everyone had nukes... all warfare was obsolete and would be instantly game over). The modern era (1980-2020) is littered with alliances armed to the teeth with nukes and some nations trying to get nukes to be relevant at the table (Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Pakistan, India, etc.). Only countries which have defense threats while having (1) no alliances and (2) no nuclear umbrella of their own like Ukraine or Syria get attacked anymore. Thus, it isn't that the game SupCom is flawed. But that this is an intrinsic nature of battlefield technology advancement; "kill enemy from far away while not putting yourself in danger" is just... effective... and any tech tree in any game will run into this fact. They can hide it to make it more fun but this is the reality. T4 Arty, if it existed, genuinely would fuck any warring parties. Even today, the airspaces of many countries are far too lined with SAMs to make bombing impossible, just like in SupCom. Even today, the borders of some states are so lined with defenses that blitzkrieg conquests are very impractical. Tech limitations mean SMDs dont exist in the real-world. But if they did, they would be spammed just like they are spammed in SupCom. In such a case, if T4 Artillery and weaponized Satellites with lasers existed, they would be the logical break of this stalemate. The second argument I guess is the design philosophy behind this game; do you portray war technology accurately or do you focus on gameplay? The devs seem to have decided and thats what makes supcom so realistic and so much more epic and story-able and castable than other strategy.... is that in a game of SupCom, you're gate-ing in to a planet and racing your economy towards game enders, trying to survive as you do so. The first one to reach game enders generally wins. You can snipe your opponent through other means before your economy levels up enough but the overwhelming reality of this war is that Commanders are fighting for their life in a hectic struggle to reach this critical mass. And once they do, they have the means to finish opposition off. Its like a race to a finish line with a gun at the end of it but youre allowed to sabotage your enemies while racing and send attacks and obstacles your way. But woe to the team that forgets that there's a gun at the finish line.
@ArawnOfAnnwn2 жыл бұрын
@@UnknownKnower2 There's a reason that even air combat games mostly don't revolve around BVR (Beyond Visual Range) air fights, even when using modern planes, despite that modern air combat is pretty much entirely BVR. Instead they focus on dogfights, which are far more enjoyable. Similarly ship combat games don't tend to be all about aircraft carriers. And in RTS games turtling is often a very discouraged strategy to begin with, never mind beating your enemy from within your turtle shell. Some, like Starcraft, barely have the tools to turtle at all. SupCom does, and that's great. But winning the game from such a position without ever moving out is straying away from turtling simply being viable towards it being annoying. It's like wonder victory or score victory in other RTS games, but those game modes barely get played at all for a reason. The few people going into those games know what the contest is gonna be about, and chose to play that mode. Games are for fun. And let's be clear here - SupCom isn't a real war simulator. Never mind space lasers and anti-nukes, even many of its basic robots are hardly likely. Your economy is infinite. Your troops have infinite ammo. There's only a very basic form of intelligence warfare. And why in god's name would you ever make an entire military operation hinge on the life of one commander? And so on and so forth. SupCom is very much still a game. Real warfare, both now and likely in the future as well, is nothing like this, and likely won't be.

Mouse wheel? What is this, 1997? Get yourself and optical mouse and call it a day! That said, it's easily fixed. Take the wheel out and clean the two rollers. They are probably covered in crap. No WD40 needed, just wipe the crap off with a napkin or something.

not a roller.. he meant middle mouse wheel.

Honestly UEF-heavy teams are really frustrating to watch in casts, because they're often able to win just by spamming Fatboy and Novax and it just sucks watching a team that played a more skillful game lose because of UEF-biased balancing.

It's not just UEF, but long-range artillery (as well as the Novax) in general. It promotes an entirely passive way to play the game, never needing to leave your base even after you've turtled and built up your strength. Just pummel their bases from inside your shell.

It's not "biased balancing", it's how the faction was built lol. Cybrans have tele snipe and stealth, Aeon have GCs, mercy's, Paragons, etc, and Seraphim have double nuke, chickens, etc. You're literally arguing that spamming experimentals is only unfair for 1 faction lol.

You will not stop the UEF!

Thing about fatboys is they’re extremely fragile. In the pro games you see them shatter under pressure, but in these joe games, the players are usually a lot less confident about dives, i think.

But in this very video... if pink Ryan and Emperor joined forces, they could have easiely had Com who had those 4 Novax. But yeee, Novax is nasty, you loose time to build shields, trying to stop Novacs, but more and more come into play. I think that there should be (choose one): 1. Limit of Novacs - max 3 2. Way to DESTROY the sattelite and disable it for 3-5 minutes, using Nuclear stratosphere explosion. You know, shoot the sky, destroy the sattelites. This would make nukes even more important, even when enemy team has anti-nukes

So what is the best faction for this game?
@GyleCast2 жыл бұрын
Depends on your play style really. UEF is probably the most forgiving faction for beginners. More HP, and strong defensive capabilities.

12 novax hmm... How could this game end???
@CGDW22 жыл бұрын
12 Novax near the end there. Absolutely disgusting.
