I kind of suspected where this was going the moment chisato passed 200 eco AFTER his base was completely gone. Any map where you can get control of a decent amount of water can lead to crazy runaway supcom spam that makes your economy nearly unkillable - there just aren't many weapons that can go after support commanders in deep water, and it renders almost all the game enders impotent. Only a couple of the experimentals are of any use at all, artillery is completely useless, and supcoms are too easily scattered and moved for nukes to be effective. Honestly don't know why supcoms aren't the automatic meta for any map with substantial water, especially with access to hives. Even if you ultimately lose the gate, if it's already put out 10+ supcoms by the time it goes, that's a total victory, whereas the loss of any other facility is a real loss. Super fun watching EsperonTo's commander rampage though! That's the first time I think I've seem a full out offensive commander pay off past the first experimental to hit the board - watching him duel a monkeylord face to face and win (handily) was amazing.

On the RASCUs, how much of Team 1's mass lead was spent on making 80+ of them? Like I loved the play, I just remember those things taking forever to pay for themselves back when I played the game.
@Redfog-z6u2 жыл бұрын
So doing some maths from the numbers in the unit Database, a RASCU costs 6500 mass, and gives you 11 mass yield, so it takes 590 mass ticks for them to return their cost, which is if it ticks once a second which i believe is the case it takes almost 10 minute for a RAS to pay themselves back, as for how much of the mass lead is RASCUs presuming yudi got 100 RASCUs finished by the end of the game that would be just over half a million mass, so approximately 25% of the their final mass total advantage, though it should be noted people dont build RASCUs for the efficiency, they do it for the utility and versatility and resilience, you need build power to spend your mass, and SCUs are both build power and resource generation, and its significantly harder to kill them all to cripple your eco then a mass fab farm or just loads of t3 mexes (and this one is also limited by how many mexes you actually have available). on top of this once you've got a critical mass of SCUs them destroying the SCU producing facility doesn't matter because you can quickly spam another up somewhere else with all your SCUs. RASCU producing is basically investing in your future economy by making eco that can outgrow the maps mass extractors and survive your base getting destroyed
@Vastin2 жыл бұрын
The thing is, when you have full control of a pond, it's nearly impossible to kill RASCUs, so they are far, far more valuable per mass/tick generated than any other building. Can't kill them with artillery, nukes could get one or two, but will never be worth it, all your land forces become functionally useless, most experimentals either can't engage them or are just too vulnerable in the water - and if they're dug in enough that you can't get a navy into their pond, your only option is to go all out air with massive numbers of torpedo bombers, or maybe Czars - pretty much nothing else will ever be able to engage them.
@Vastin2 жыл бұрын
They also have the advantage of being VERY efficient in terms of APM. That entire economy he built came from two little clusters of buildings - a set of hives and a couple gateways. His team presumably fed him to get it going, but once he had out a few RASCU's it became self sustaining and then hit exponential runaway. In the meantime he literally can be twiddling his thumbs and reading a book - or usefully micromanaging someone else's military assets while they eco, given that his economy takes all of ~5 APM to manage.
@Redfog-z6u2 жыл бұрын
@@Vastin The Wheelie fed him mass after they lost their base to keep production up, i think a decent amount of the given mass was actually wasted due more mass being given in single instances then yudi had mass storage, he got gifted about 130k mass in total from the wheelie but i dont know how much was lost to mass overflow. Then later Wheelie gave him t3 maxes with mass storage, also the SACUS he had in the pond got to reclaim basically the entire destroyed navy in the bay, which was probably a boat load of mass too
@Vastin Жыл бұрын
@@Redfog-z6u There is definitely something to be said for funnelling your team's early economy into one side of the map to dominate it and set up a runaway economy, while the rest of the team just fortifies and makes itself hard to kill, trading space for time to get the super economy rolling. Once you have those 80 RASCU's the game is basically over even if your enemy doesn't realize it. Never have I seen a Mavor look quite as impotent as in this battle - it might as well have not been there. Different deal if you're on a map without a decent amount of deep water though. A hard sweep with a handful of gunships could spot and tear apart a RASCU based economy in that case much more easily.
