In a landmark ruling on Thursday, the Supreme Court curtailed the Enforcement Directorate's power to arrest an accused - under Section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, or PMLA - if the accused appears as summoned by a special court that has taken cognisance of the complaint.

ED cannot arrest a person unless and until irregularities are proved. It is the duty of ED to raid and find irregularities. If they go beyond that Supreme Court has to interfere.

Nope.. No one wants to encourage Money Laundering. Atleast some better checks & controls will be exercised against the misuse of the law. Still SC will be in control after it takes cognizance of the case & only it's permission can be taken for arrest. This is clearly against the misuse of arrest as a tool of terrorism and will encourage law abiding citizens to feel more secure and safe in this gunda raaj.

Sc has to empower ED s arrest . Unless until empower such organization how can they work properly. In money laundering case if ED arrested it will come before the court with in 48 hours after that court can decide then why sc is interfering and also sc has to empower similar organizations such as cbi ccb CID excise income tax and lokayukta and lokadalat to do proper function and make our system free from any malfunction.
