I'm currently playing a Sorcerer with a Bloodwell Vial and recently realised that I can do something similar using the new spell Wither and Bloom, since that also lets one target in the spell's radius heal using a hit die.

5 sorcery points for the price of a second level spell slot. Even if you use the points the points to get the slot back, that's still a net positive of two points!

Also important to keep in mind that the section about Sorcery Points in the PHB says you can never have more sorcery points than shown on the table for your level. So you would have to spend 5 Sorcery Points first and use this as a refill and heal.

Still a pretty good synergy, just very circumstancial. However, hill dwarf with dwarves fortitude is still great for keeping attackers at bay while using quickened spells and maintaining concentration. The extra hit point will also make you deceptively tanky

yes, but it also says you can create spell slots with font of magic, not fill spellslots create them. with 5 points you get a 3rd level spell slot, big enough to cast fireball or counterspell.

When looking at class max, most level 20 boons are, arguably, not worth the effort in comparison to a 1-3 level dip in another class. (And please, note, that I said MOST.)

You can also do this with any Sorcerer with a Bloodwell Vial, if *anyone* has the spell Wither and Bloom. They just target you with the Bloom part of the combo deal, and bam, no need for a specific race plus a racial feat. The spell is 2nd level btw

A 2 level fighter dip could be interesting for this build, not only for heavy armor, second wind, and fighting styles being nice, and letting you play a cool battle mage, but action surge could let you pull some MAJOR nonsense with this

Yes, this works as intended, but the Bloodwell Vial still only works this way once a day. Rather than getting your five sorcery points back during a short rest, you get them back mid-combat.

It's better than the wizard's lvl 20. Especially if you are in a situation where you can't or don't need to sleep. It can become functionally infinite castings of any level spell. If you want done dirty "You can cast 2 level 3 spells for free per short/long rest." lmao. Meanwhile Warlock over there just gets all of his slots back, doesn't even need to rest, so it's essentially just that his spell slots double, which is the most powerful of the lvl 20 abilities.

And also to top it. Being a Gold Dwarf (hill) and choose Draconic bloodline, from both things you’ll get extra hit points. As both race and subclass have a basically tough feat. Which you can also add the feat Tough which would give you even more hit points!

This item only came out in Tasha's, and the wording makes me believe this is part of the intended use. But even if you are a normal sorcerer and use it on a short rest, that is still very powerful. Goes to show that WotC still don't balance items power according to rarity.

For my Mountain Dwarf Sorcerer (Aberrant Mind), I expanded on this idea by using the Variant Crafting rules in XGE in order to make my own Bloodwell Vials, in house.

Weird thing you can do in DnD: spell save master Be a level 14 artificer with 20 intelligence, a +3 all purpose tool, and a +3 amulet of the Devout. This gives you a spell save of 8+5+5+3+3=24 and 5+5+3+3=16 to hit

Except recovering sorcery points is a lvl 20 ability which you couldn't get if you multiclassed, e.g if you took 1 lvl in warlock your max sorcerer lvl would be 19

@@brandonokeeffe1193 he's talking about turning warlock pact slots into sorcery points. The warlock pact slots refresh on a short rest, the sorc points get converted in sorc spell slots and as long as you never long rest you have an infinite loop of pact slot - sorc points - sorc spell slots.

@@SpaceVentura69 except only your pact slots reset on short rest so any sorcerer spell slots you use are gone, also hit die only reset on long rest, so you'd need to use healing spells or potions to recover health, and alot of abilities only recover on long rests E.g A 1 lvl dip into warlock only gives 1 sorcery point per short rest, you need to be atleast lvl 3 to get 4 back per short rest, it doesn't give more than the lvl 20 sorcerer ability till lvl 5 and above, which means you will miss out on any sorcerer abilities over lvl 15

An alternative to having to play a dwarf and take a feat is using the Wither and Bloom spell from Strixhaven. Make sure you're in the radius (or have another caster pop it on you), and you get to spend a hit die as a bonus from a 2nd-level spell. I'm playing a druid with the spell in my current campaign, so if we can get a vial for our sorcerer, the cheese will be immense.

Precisely. Built a powerful multiclass Sorlock on that . 2 lvls of Warlock gets you 4 sorcery pts on a Short Rest ,which can also be converted into two 1st lvl spell. slots , or one 2nd lvl slot. That plus a Bloodwell vial and a battle- mage built means you're Always able to use your MetaMagic freely..
