For someone that usually doesn't care for too much wood, in the mansion, the wood looks rich and classy!!!!!! Very well done blend of iron, wood, colors, border work, etc. My house keeper would carry cans of Pledge in a holster like a gun fighter! You have to make sure with a mansion like this that the cleaning staff knows not to try and clean everything with bleach! Lol! Wow, such amazing, grand and opulent use of the wood! I hate to sound like a broken record, but I am blown away by the look and feel of pure class here! Well done!

First, I apologize for my rambling and a tad of ranting. Lol *There are very few newer construction homes that I care for nor, would I look twice at. While stone wouldn't be my normal "go to," the architecture, windows, lighting and attention to detail - draws me in. It kept me there when I viewed the interior. In my opinion, this home is impeccable and exquisite!* My childhood home was built in 1880. We had the high ceilings, gorgeous crown molding cherry woodwork that was curved and lined where the walls met the ceiling (8" of solid cherry). Every doorway and window had handcrafted 6" fluted casing with the rosette type corners. The wood trim also extended beneath the width of each window (which, were 8 feet long) to met the 8" detailed wooden baseboards that lined every wall. The solid oak staircase was handcrafted and one of a kind. To give an idea of how ornamental this staircase was, when my grandfather purchased the house back in the early 60's, a man offered him over $15,000 just for the banister and railing - that is a ridiculous amount of money for that alone. Three inch thick oak entry doors - the sheer height and width would dwarf the sad excuse they call doors, nowadays. One never had to worry about getting oversized furniture in our house. Along with Pocket Doors, French Doors and two marble ornate fireplaces. I could go on for days, but you get the hint. *What I am getting at, my old home and THIS home, are how houses are _supposed_ to be made - built to LAST. Did you notice how many times I said "solid wood" in my description above? The reason, finishings such as these (this house appears to be all solid wood) scream quality...because they ARE. It shows that the architect and/or designer paid great attention to detail - they have taste and it's not "showy" or flashy gaudiness. It is elegance. The woodwork in this house is distinct, flows very well and is ornate. The library/study/office alone is absolutely stunning! There are so many houses slapped together in the past half century or so, make me cringe. There is no durability factor, there is no originality and there is zero class. IF - there is any crown molding or trim - the majority of the time it is this dreadful, faux and completely generic looking trim to give the appearance of "wood," that is the equivalent of pressed and glued sawdust or plastic/acrylic. It's cheap and sadly, why it's so popular. It is expensive to purchase real wood and especially, wood with great detail. I do not have the money to construct such a house or to buy one such as this, but if you can't do it right, don't do it at all. I cannot understand the "logic" of people wanting a house where everything is white, off-white or some shade thereof. Absolutely zero character and no definition...it all blends into...blah. Does it give the "appearance" of openness and larger, yes. No thank you, I'll take some depth, contrasting colors and uniqueness with my home. This house is very large with over 12,000 sq ft and 7 bedrooms - it wouldn't have "small" rooms. It looks inviting and rich (as in decadent) to me; not...I am afraid to walk across the floor or accidently touch the walls because it will mar something. o.0 Another thing that baffles me - the craze of "open floor plan." Walls are a good thing people! Those barriers prevent sound from traveling - especially, if they are WELL built walls. Semi-soundproofing without actually soundproofing. Extra woodwork like this house has, even MORE insulated. And, who needs to see each other every second you're in the house together? :D Can't see your children well enough? Do like people used to do - go find them. Better yet, teach them HOW to behave...people will love you for it! For the anti-carpet folks...also a good thing, in my opinion. Not much carpet in this home, but many area rugs. We almost had wall-to-wall carpeting in my old house - even in our kitchen. And no, the carpet in there wasn't grimy or sticky - it is second nature to us with being careful. I miss it tremendously. Thick piled carpeting with a well constructed backing and dense padding underneath, will last for YEARS. Our living room that was 33 feet long and the same carpet continued into the Foyer, was 20 yrs old and still looked brand new. No wear pattern/track visible and once furniture was placed, it rarely ever moved at my house. Even MORE noise reduction. It's warm in the winter - I'm from IL. If you have pets, it prevents hair from flying all over the place - unlike tile/wood/etc. Even dust and lint, in general, that accumulates on the floor - it all gets disrupted continuously. To me, it is much easier to run the vacuum than get out a broom and sweep the entire house and throw around more dust. Further, it is just extremely comfy. A proper vacuum with weight and heavy suction, is key. Worried about dirt and germs? Did you know there is anti-microbial carpet out there? How about steaming or the older way of shampooing? Just a thought. There are a couple of issues I find with this house by what I can see. A major one, it's on a slab foundation and hence, gives no "roots" to the house...a very large one, at that. Two, it looks like the neighbors are a hop, skip and jump away. Even with that, I LOVE the outdoor kitchen area - so, I'd deal with the neighbors and the view of their roofline. One can dream, right? :D

I love this one. I would buy it if I had the cash. I saw it many years ago. It came up again on my videos. I like the kitchen and the lion heads on the fridge/freezer. I hate the stone they used on the exterior of the home! Limestone would be the clean, classic mansion look for me. The interior looks good, what little they show of it. They seem to be doing a MTV Cribs camera job, showing brief, tight shots of the place, so you can't really get full room shots of anything.

if I had the money I would take it. perhaps in 3 years. How much does a place like this go for about? The lady that said 'pledge' on the wood is crazy. That stuff builds up over the years. I would clean and treat it my self, I would not trust anyone else to do it. Amish furniture polish type products are the best. And someone else mentions bleach. I don't believe in help. I clean up after myself.

Well as of Aug. 22 2016, I was able to get my childhood home in Missouri for $1,750. In a years time if I don't have trouble from the Title holder, I can get the house Sept.1,2017. It is a mess, but I am going to be able to take this little cabin and enlarge it and add to it. Then put a 3rd level double bedrooms and jack and jill bath. I can make this a real nice place anyway I like. Like an empty canvas waiting for the portrait. It has a great back yard as well. All level. Can't wait to get started. I am going to be doing a blog of it from start to finish. As long as the house has it's foundation I can get an FHA loan for a fixer upper For $40,000. Being me and family will do most of the work, I will be able to do most of the stuff myself. Bismarck Missouri is about 70 miles south of St. Louis. I am also turning the place into a small healing center. I practice QHHT healing hypnosis. If you want to see the process, keep in mind inspire 734 channel, The home that Jeanette Built. I expect that it will be finished June 2018. To get the FHA loan, you have to have a fico score of 580 I think. I am now building up my credit. I get $1,500. a month disability now, so I have some things like Fingerhut that is a revolving account along with some clothing credit from a Comenity bank and a loan place that helped me with the Tax payment to get the house. So those 3 will give me the good credit I need in order to get the major loan. I should have the clothing and Fingerhut paid off with just the small loan payments left that are $2ll. a month. With the QHHT practice and the $1,500. a month, I should be able to put down my income as $2,000. a month then. The FHA loan I want for $200. a month. The reason I am writing all this down is for anyone who comes across this and can learn that you too may be able to get your own place with a small income. If this place was an up class neighborhood instead of a county town of 1,650 people, the finished house would be worth $400,000. Where it sits and what I personally will do to the home will be worth at least $250,000.-$300,000. Nice retirement place.
