This was one of the scariest gaming moments for me actually. When I was like 7/8, I played Melee on a hard difficulty and I saw this scary ass Bowser (Which I know is Giga Bowser a few years after, back then we had no computers in my house) and my GameCube froze at 1:14 and I was like what the fuck. NO one believed me because it never happen to them and my dad was like "You're watching too many horror movies & played too much Resident Evil." I WAS SO UPSET FOR YEARS AND THAT FACE HAUNTED ME FOR THE LONGEST BECAUSE I NEVER GOT THAT FIGHT AGAIN TILL YEARS AFTER.

Me too. I remember playing the game for a few years. When I finally got good enough in normal, it scared the crap out of me when I first saw him. I used to play easy or normal (but wasn't fast enough) so I always see bowser defeated and win... and then the cutscene happened. That cutscene alone was terrifying at first.

It’s more like all of Bowser’s rage towards Mario takes over Bowser and turns him into this Kaiju version of himself. Funny enough Sakurai confirmed that this form of Bowser is what he envisioned his original sprite from Super Mario Bros to look like as a 3D model. Yep.

Plus Sakurai has gone on record saying the original Bowser sprite from Super Mario Bros should’ve given off a more scary monster like appearance but was limited to NES capabilities. I found about him in Brawl and in 2012 when I found out he was from Melee, I went back in my closet, pulled out Melee. I played that shit again and saw this cutscene and went "WTF??!!" LOL. Giga Bowser was/is the greatest thing that ever happened in Smash Bros history. I remember fighting him for the first time in event mode and my mind was blown. Ever since then I always wanted to play as him, and I finally did in Brawl and Smash 4, but it's not the same since it's only Bowser's final smash. Oh well...

​@Sol-Amar you have to do at least normal adventure or higher. Then, defeat bowser to get giga bowser optional fight. Of course, you have beat bowser boss before 18 minutes. 18 minutes as the total adventure time to arrive at final destination. Best way to remember this is just clear stages under minute and you will be ok.

My first inkling that Giga Bowser existed was when I saw his trophy in my friend's Melee save file. But she hadn't faced him, her brother had, so she didn't know how to fight him. It wasn't until Brawl was being teased and I saw the big guy would be Bowser's Final Smash did I ever bother trying to face him. I managed it as Mewtwo, but it was really close.

Brawl and with the introduction of Final Smashes fans could final play as Giga Bowser legitimately. Also you left out the fact that you can't use any continues before reaching bowser if you want to fight Giga Bowser.

I too have a story on one of my scariest gaming moments of going against Giga Bowser in Melee. I have to point out that when I was playing Melee I didn't know about Giga Bowser until Event Match #51. When I saw Bowser being huge and different, I was like "Why is Bowser huge and ugly?". I then looked it up on the internet and read up that you have to do certain requirements on going against him. I was shocked that I never found the secret (I always played every mode on the Very Easy difficult level to finish it early lol). So by the time I made it to Bowser and beat him (at the time I was shocked and questioned why was his color palette different from his usual green attire, until I was overjoyed that I met the criteria on the challenge). Until, the cutscene played... Holy shit, that scared the hell out of me as a kid, the idea that the Final Destination background is all pitch black, alone, Bowser's trophy somehow made it back on stage on its own and his transformation with those damn glowing eyes, it was very intimidating. I will never forget that image at all. Of course, I snapped out of it as soon as I fight him as the remix version of Final Destination played (which I'm ashamed that it never made it on the Sound Test in Melee) and won. I swore to never fight him again. Months later, I realized that I haven't gotten his trophy and I had to do it all again. But this time I finally conquered my fear against him and gotten the trophy. I'm glad Melee gave me alot of memories and a bit of nightmares from a really good game. :)

I don't know how many times I lost to Giga Bowser until I finally beat him back then. Him and Crazy Hand really were more terrifying back then... probably because i was younger and not spoiled by hd. Now Giga Bowser doesn't look intimidating at all and i probably can rekt him with my eye closed. Though I'm glad Smash 4 introduced Master Core and Brawl introduced Tabuu (and others), both were pretty powerful foes that continued the introduction of fierce final bosses. Ehh, I don't know...

It's probably just based on the trope of dead creatures coming back to life via electricity sources such as a lightning bolt (Frankenstein's monster is probably the most famous example). After all, characters in the Super Smash Bros. series are essentially "dead" or at least in a comatose state when they are trophies. So, the lightning bolt causes Bowser to "rise from the dead", if you will, as a more grotesque form of his normal self.

Aw, he didnt add the last part where the Bowser trophy flies down and then shatters into a bunch of pieces, I think that's also kinda dark, like Bowser basically is wiped from existence.

SOLARFARLE The Beauty Queen i didn't know who Giga Browser was in Melee. I thought he was in brawl. I played melee since i was like 3 or 4 years. Now that I'm 16 years old, i was surprised.

heres my story back when i was way younger i got own by giga bowser for first time battle with him and cry so badly, it got me by surprised the first time i saw this, after it took me days later because i no idea how to fight giga bowser again because no internet at the time i don't remember what year when internet became a thing for me but i finally beat him and it was my greatest accomplishment ever at the time and disappoint not knowing he was a just a boss char i thought i unlock giga bowser but i guess trophy works too so i can learn what the hack is this thing?
