To be honest I’ve never needed anything bigger than 30w. Big stage they stick a mic on me. Small stage which is 98% of what I do, I’m getting older now and stick close to home, 15-30w cranked is what I’m after. I found this amp, and fell in love with it. What a fantastic amp, I’m not after the Jimmy Page tone. This was a good demonstration of what it is capable of. Its very versatile. It’s not a one trick pony.

Great demo as usual. With these supro only trying them we can know the clean headroom they have. I see most of the reviews made with them with the volume/channel at 11 before the amps begin saturating. Would that correspond to more than half of the acoustic output of this amp? TY

Budda Guedes Some of that compression must be the speaker, which is just magic (pardon the pun). I tried the amp into an EV speaker and a Marshall cab with Greenbacks and it’s not got the same sweetness or compression to it. I’m going to have to use a sound shield in rehearsals ‘cos this thing just comes alive when maxed out.

What do you think about the new versions coming with a master volume? Do you think that helps their usability in places where you can't play super loud, or do you think they've diluted that vintage "thing" with its inclusion.

The master volume might help you to get the amp Distortion at lower levels. I don’t think it changes the vintage vibe of it. You can always set the master at max, and it’s as if it’s off

@BuddaGuedes6 жыл бұрын

Does a supro amp sound like a fender or do they have there own sound ? Tks keep up the good work i like the channel
@BuddaGuedes5 жыл бұрын
@@jimioconnor8039 Hey there. The supro doesn't sound like a fender. It distorts very quickly and is a lot more compressed and less bass. It's closer to a plexi marshall, bright and nasty. The silver Jubillee is a modern amp, with a tighter low end and modern distortion. It's a great amp nontheless, but they are very different. I love both so it's hard. If you go for the Black Magick with reverb it's probably more versatile. And for playing at home the supro will give you better quiet tones. Hope it helped
@jimioconnor80395 жыл бұрын
Yes it does help where i live theres not one for me to try so ive been watching reviews online and yours were the best i must add so thanks for that by the way. Im leaning more toward the supro i figure if i get the black magick i can still get a catalinbread DLS or a catalinbread RAH and have that amp in a box tone to go with it. The pedals from what ive seen sound good. Do you have any experience with them? Any suggestions on fuzz pedals? I like the tone benders like page used but there super expensive and im just a student right now i looked at the whampler velvet fuz seemed cool and i seen a greenish blue fuz on your channel that was cool too. Last question will the black magick sound different than the black magick reverb bc the different "upgrades"? Thanks again for taking your time out to answer back to me. Any suggestions on how to get better at playing like what scales to focus on and such anyway keep up the good work bro your killin it and if you can make another video with the black magick and what do you think of the sundragon amp?

@@jimioconnor8039 Hey there. As for Fuzz pedals, I just did an episode on it not long ago. Please watch them and try to improve. I also teach via Skype, so if you're interested in private lessons please send me a messade via instagram or facebook. Lol don’t get me wrong I bought one of these along with numerous other amps , but I find it funny that everyone buys these reproductions of old amps that were cheap back in the day like this Supro the fender champ and tons of others , growing up in the 70s we got stuck playing and buying cheap shitty amps that we all thought sounded like ass back then , only hoping we could some day get a Marshall stack. Now 50 yrs later we are buying the same shitty amps for 10 times the amount to reproduce the sounds we thought were cheap and shitty. When they come out with a 50 watt univox solid state 1X12 that was as loud as a 1 watt tube amp as a repro I know they are just f**king with me.
@BuddaGuedes2 жыл бұрын
It is what it is. Musicians also start playing for few money or even for free, and when they get famous the charge a lot more. that's life. i think the price point is great on this amps!!
@chokkan7 Жыл бұрын
Just to address some of your assertions, many of these amps were not by any means 'cheap' at the time they were released but were often seen as cheap a generation later when they were sold as used. Valco products were not much less expensive than were Fenders and were very well constructed by contemporary (and modern) standards. The cost of parts to build a tube amp today is significantly higher than it was at that time, since much of electronics manufacturing has gone in a very different direction, so components are comparatively more expensive. I'd also add that a good deal of marketing has gone into many re-issues; they are not the same as the originals by any stretch of the imagination, and internal construction is far inferior. These new amps will not withstand the test of time as did the older ones. There have been some SS amps that didn't sound too bad, but that's been the exception rather than the rule. You'd do far better to have a bespoke amp built for you by an established tech; it would cost more, but it would also hold up far better than any of the crap being peddled today.
@michaelsteven1090 Жыл бұрын
haha 70's player here..Nobody wanted these amps back then, including myself..It was Marshall all the way..I had several. (should of kept them)..Back then before social media, we only knew what everybody was playing live and the occasional interview..When I saw Zep and the Marshalls, that was it!

Thinking about trading for this amp. Have a Captor X 16 ohm. Can I use my Captor X 16 ohm both as an attenuator and for headphones (load box)? Thanks!!
@BuddaGuedes Жыл бұрын
I think you can
@leoolivero963 Жыл бұрын
I'd be careful. You need to match the Captor to the speaker's impedance. It would work (at very low volumes), but the internal speaker is 8ohms and if you plan to use the 16ohm Captor, you'd have to plug in the 16ohm output of the amp, which is not ideal when driving an 8ohm speaker. I plan on doing the same, but I'll be using the 8ohm Captor plugged to the 8ohm output of the amp. I've done this with other amps successfully. I also have the 16ohm Captor that I use with 16ohm speakers.
@BuddaGuedes Жыл бұрын
If you over do it there’s no problem. If you mismatch impedance to a higher value there’s no danger. The problem would be if the captor was 4 ohms

After just a couple minutes with the 594, I couldn't help but wonder why I'd ever pick up one of those Les Paul's again? No intonation problems, no buzzed out notes after 12, a tone knob that actually changes tone, expected volume loss when wanted. It was crazy. I loved it, and had never picked it up before.
