Supro Tremolo - the most amp-like tremolo out there? [and one heck of an overdrive too!]

This might be the most amp-like tremolo pedal I've ever played. Every time I revisit tremolo I am reminded how great it is at adding dimension and motion without getting in the way. It's an effect with a long history dating back to the early vintage tube amps of the 1940s, 50s and 60s and the newly refreshed Supro Dual Mode Tremolo captures the feel and tone excellently.
Both amplitude and harmonic tremolo modes sound great on this, but what I love most about the design is its drive circuit. Dial the depth of the tremolo to zero and use the Gain knob for an overdrive that goes from light amp-like texture to full out saturation! It also has adaptive level compensation circuitry so even as you increase gain it won't overwhelm your signal with volume.

I had version 1 for 2 years. Drive sound of it was amazing. I used it as a preamp. For me, v2's trem sounds more clear

I had the original when it was first released, and I found that the pre amp was too much unless you adjusted everything else in the chain.The actual effect was excellent. Harmonic Trem is to now what Chorus was to the 80's, - not always used appropriately.Personally, I find the Vox Percussive Repeater style much more interesting, while the Harmonic is like several other modulations like UniVibe.Supro make some serious pedals, not unlike Pigtronix, who are owned by the same larger company.

yeah , I agree - it does take a little finessing of the rest of the signal. I think it is slick in a really small effects chain/setup. If I was using a small amp w/o trem, I could almost get away with it and a reverb or it and a delay, with the Supro as my dirt. I like how it can add just that edge of breakup texture that one could use as a tonal foundation.

That would be cool! Been a minute since I had a dark world. I imagine they'd gel pretty well. Love the textures from this trem and what I remember of DW was its kinda over gritty / lofi nature. Thx for watching!

Voodoo lab tremolo is also a great one that is pretty cheap. Less than $100 used. It uses a photocell for great vintage sound and lots of control on the 4 knob version. Only neg vs this is no harmonic trem on the voodoo lab.

I’ve played that one too and it’s solid! Voodoo labs kinda seemed like the sleepers in early boutique - my first real boutique od was a sparkle drive and that thing sounded awesome

Have you tried the new UaFX Flow yet? Curious how this Supro compares to that and Jam Harm Monk.

yeah! I have the Flow in from UA as well as the Harm Monk mkII (perhaps. you saw my demo). Gonna explore the Flow in a video soon. The distinguishing factor definitely is the Supro's drive circuit, which I'm obsessed with. It feels the most amp like of the three. I don't think you could go wrong with any, but they each have their own unique features that distinguish them one from the next.

Thanks! Curious to learn your thoughts on the Flow upcoming. I sold my Milkman tube driven reverb trem for cash last year and miss it. Looking into what pedal equivalents exist. Flow seems most similar to that tube driven trem sound, but Supro is very good sounding too and has the added drive that can be a quite useful bonus.
