I had the original version of this, the Supro 1310 Tremolo, and much preferred the aesthetic, but if it's the same circuit that is the best tremolo pedal you can buy. The 1310's transformer warmed up everything, even when the gain was set to zero, and I routinely had it as an always on, even when I wasn't using the trem. It's the closest thing to a true tube driven tremolo that i've played. My only issue was the noise floor was higher than I would prefer, and it wasn't stereo.

Damn. I guess I know which trem I am getting. The standalone gain sound on that sounds like it came out of a swamp and that phased tremolo sounds more like a Univibe than my Univibe pedal. That would be pure insanity in an wet/dry rig. Thanks! Get video. Happy New Year!

Very cool trem pedal. I was looking for something like this and I just got a Wampler Terraform pedal pedal, which gives me trem and other affects. The thing I like the most about it is that it allows me to play through both my amps, Blackstar Silverline and Bugera V22, simultaneously.

@stoneysdead689
@stoneysdead689 6 ай бұрын
It's extremely obvious once you've played both and get used to the sounds- but the real difference is the output values. Lower output pickups sound great clean or slightly broken to me- higher outputs sound better when the gain is turned up. But they also sound different when clean and some ppl- though they are in the minority right now- prefer them to single cools when playing clean. BB King used them to play clean for instance. It's a fuller, fatter, more rounded sound which lacks he anomalies that single coils have- problem is, some ppl really like those anomalies. They call them "sympathetic harmonics" or over tones and they give the tone a lot of character.

For me, the most luxurious Tremolo I use as my measuring stick is on Josh Rouse's Suburban Sweetheart and Dressed Up Like Nebraska. Like Heroin, it's so addicting! I believe he used a Carl Martin Trem on that album. Give it a listen a few times and get HOOKED! LOL

For years all I had on my board despite having loads of pedals was a Rat a compressor and an EQ and I used the reverb on my amp, for the music I was playing at the time this was all I needed to get my tone dialed in
@stoneysdead689
@stoneysdead689 6 ай бұрын
Ah man, I miss those days. All I needed was a decent delay and a dirt pedal- the amp had the reverb, and that was all we needed. You didn't even think about it- everyone else was using about the same thing so- it was normal. We spent all our time concentrating on the music and how to play it instead of adjusting parameters and watching reviews to figure out what to buy next. Idk when constantly buying and trying out new gear became part of the guitar thing but- it really didn't used to be this way. I mean ppl would of course talk about wanting a better rig, but it didn't dominate the conversation like it does now. I honestly think I spend about half my time watching reviews and contemplating new purchases now- it's insane.

I have a seymour duncan shape shifter that the previous owner added a volume knob to. It's the best. You can get that volume boost and the pedal has tap tremolo. SD should make the volume knob standard.

Hey Phil, I can see why you like this pedal, is this the newer version? Did you have the older one as well? Do they sound the same? I found the older one altered the EQ of my sound too much, but I'm not hearing that on this one. Thanks!

This sounds awesome. Amplitude iis smooth, harmonic is excellent. I’m gonna throw a critique out there though? For any modulation pedal, I’m always curious about the min/max speeds, so personally I’d have loved to have seen that. Seems like this one may not go ultra slow, but depending on the pot I guess it might go slower than I think.

That rig would make about any pedal sound great. Not saying this one isn't a great pedal but- that's a hell of a rig man. I've been wrestling with my Epi. LP all day- trying to get it intonated- which isn't working out. I stored it for 3 years and something moved or changed- now I can't get it to intonate to save my life. And it's not just the usual G string issues- though that string is out of intonation as well. It's several strings- the High E seeming to be the worst offender. And I'm out of adjustment at the saddle- and it's still flat. I'm going to try raising the bridge on that end a little- if that doesn't work- I'm out of ideas. Wait- I just thought about something- I changed string gauge. Probably only a small part of it but I could go back to the other size and see if it helps, I guess. But for now, it's back to the CV Strat, I guess. It's a HSS model but, I still miss my LP- It sounds better when playing heavy stuff. The Strat sounds better playing clean or bluesy grit- but the LP shines when you turn up the gain.

Tremolo is one of those effects I could never hear again and I wouldn’t miss it. It’s a love-it-or-hate-it type effect unlike delay, reverb, flange, phase, chorus which most agree have a solid place in the board. To be fair this one does sound decent and the gain knob for sure helps … Gave the vid a thumbs 👍🏻 up though since Phil always provides a very balanced review of gear…

You're speaking the truth. I'm 59. Ever since I first encountered tremolo at age 12, I've hated it. I still don't like it after giving it a fair shake a few years ago...

@@bludworm1 Yeah… I’ve tried to like them… just never have. Didn’t care for them on Fender amps… which only pushed me over to Marshall sooner than I probably would have lol… never liked them as a pedal and if something ever called for a tremolo type effect I would grab an MXR Phase 90 instead … I know certain genres use tremolo quite a bit, but as a straight up rocker / metal guy, it just never was something I could get into at all …

@Phillip McKnight Hello! I have 3 questions😁 or ideas to comment. 1. I would like to know if you still have a shop or suggest a luthier (I'm in Tempe) Also for my 5-string bass. 2. There has never been talk of neodymium pickups and nothing about pickups with neodymium BAR magnet (but they are sold). 2 years ago I changed the magnet to my H. (all my guitars are HSS). Now I have bought thin bars for 2 single coils (not poles, single blade). But I feel like it's like an animal on drugs...waiting to be tamed😁. 3. I would like you to talk about Yamaha (Pacificas in particular). Everyone says good things about them, but it is never talked about. I have tried many cheap ones, better than some Fender ones and I don't understand why they are not so popular (which keeps their price low). But they have hundreds of models from the 80s-90s that have never been seen outside of Asia. I saw a video about this. Greetings!
