And God knows your actions). 2:38:31 Ayah #31: "walanabloowannakum hatta na'lam al-mujahideena minkum was-sabireena wanabloowa akhbarakum" (We will certainly test you, until We know those among you who strive, and those who are steadfast, and We will test your reactions). 2:39:37 Ayah #32: "inn alladheena kafaroo wasaddoo an sabeel il-laahi washaqqoo ar-rasoola min ba'di ma tabayyana lahum ul-huda lan yadurr ool-laaha shayan wasayuh'bitu a'malahum" (Those who disbelieve, and hinder from the path of God, and oppose the Messenger after guidance has become clear to them-they will not hurt God in the least, but He will nullify their deeds). 2:45:12 the worry that a lack of commitment and related course of conduct could count against one's Islam in Ayah #33: "ya-ayyuh alladheena amanoo atee' ool-laaha wa-atee'oo ar-rasoola wala tub'tiloo a'malakum" (O you who believe! Obey God, and obey the Messenger, and do not let your deeds go to waste). 2:47:31 talking about the hypocrites, Ayah #34 says: "inn alladheena kafaroo wasaddoo an sabeel il-laahi thumma matoo wahum kuffarun falay yaghfir al-laahu lahum" (Those who disbelieve, and hinder from God's path, and then die as disbelievers-God will not forgive them). 2:50:50 Ayah #35: "fala tahinoo watad'oo ila as-salmi wa-antumu al-a'lawna wal-laahu ma'akum walay yatirakum a'malakum" (So do not waver and call for peace while you have the upper hand. God is with you, and He will not waste your efforts). 2:54:00 the principle at stake throughout the chapter - strength and resolve for a cause. Only the strong can sue for peace; for the weak doing this amounts to oppression. 2:57:43 the sacrifice demanded being from God's money - of which one is merely a temporary trustee - referred to in Ayah #36: "innama al-hayat ud-dun'ya la'ibu walahwu wa-in tu'minoo watattaqoo yu'tikum ujoorakum wala yasalkum amwalakum" (The life of this world is nothing but play and pastime.
