Thank you for this tutorial. It answered all the questions I had regarding all the trace options. Thanks for the tip on the super vectorize it program. Close Path takes care of the problem. This is only important in case one wants do other path functions with the respective design and a broken path would not allow any further manipulation of the design, except for resizing.

Glad to be of help. If that is the reason for invisibility, that's a very strange one!

I would like to know if in SCAL you can trace a png image and convert it to a desired shape, for example an image of a curtain and convert or cut it on one side of a milk box and then print and cut it into the shape of the milk box. It's like in the silhuoette program, which takes the shape of that png image using the modify and then crop tool.

SCAL is similar to Silhouette Studio in that it has a trace function which has adjustments and different modes. It is capable of the print to cut function in that it can add registration marks. Like a Silhouette machine, IT DOES NOT PRINT, you need to send the file to a printer to do that. You can only print on something that your printer can cope with. Now, it depends on your cutter as to if it can read those registration marks. If you are unsure, contact Craft Edge, or ask questions on a forum for your particular machine.

High Pass Filter in Silhouette Studio was always turned off... they now have this as a default so it seems better to NOT use it. If you want the outline (cutline) to not print. not only change it to print and cut cut but you can also change the colour to white, this will not print as printers don't print white.

While checking the functions, I certainly couldn't get anywhere with HPF in SCAL, and I hadn't in Studio either, years ago. Yes, changing the line colour to white will also work but I like to see my cut lines in the process if not on paper.

yeah, I never bother with the HPF I guess it must have a use somewhere for extra fine details or something but generally we tend to just want an outline and/or a bit of detail ;) if you change the mat colour you can see the white cutlines. it's just another way to make sure the lines don't show up in a print. you can, of course, change them to a colour that matches the image (or just black) and then it can look like you inked the edge if your cutline is not quite 100% LOL
