Sureanu Mountains - Wild camping in the Romanian Carpathians ( Part 2)

The second part of our journey takes us into Sureanu Massif. We drove through Cheile Jietului and left the car a few km away from Transalpina in a beautiful clearing. For 3 days we hiked unmarked paths, got caught in a thunderstorm, barricaded ourselves in an abandoned sheepfold trying to stay away from wolves and enjoyed Romanian hospitality feasting on fresh cheese and palinca.
Before getting back to the card we witnessed the destruction of vast virgin forests. Massive deforestation conducted by the local councils and dictated by a corrupt government. They sell the country's treasures and destroy the lungs of Europe. theecologist.org/2015/oct/21/...
Hopeless and too small to make a difference, we continue our journey to the next mountain group.
