Surefire (Geissele) bore alignment rod compared to a McMaster rod

Get a McMaster 0.2188" rod for .223"/5.56mm. .22 centerfire barrels have a bore of 0.219" and a groove of 0.224" ...

It’s an option. You’ll have to chamfer the ends, easy to do, did it to my other McMaster rods. Have you been using that? I wonder how tight of a fit that is. The Geissele/Surefire rod is a pretty snug fit, not sure I’d want to go up to .2188”. I’m guessing that G/SF spec’d it that way for a reason.

Glad to help. I would not trust the McMaster rods, especially when using a longer can.
