good tip on the battery,, just ordered direct from orbtronics. total for 2 was less then $20 will try it out , didnt know they existed.. have a lot of "torches" that take 2x RCR123 batteries.. Always hunting for something lasting longer ... Mahalo

This is great to know, will it work for the G2X 600lm?
@CalebDowning6 жыл бұрын
It should. I used these in my old G2 without any issues. It’s pretty safe to say that if the light uses two 123A batteries then the 16650 should work.

I doubt you're starting at full output with the 16650. The voltage is likely not high enough to even get the 6V light into regulated drive. The reason you have sustained output at all is because it's a quality battery with stable discharge voltage. A superior test would be to shine it on a solar cell from a yard light hooked up to a volt meter. Then take voltage readings at whatever rate you want and graph it.
@CalebDowning6 жыл бұрын
The would be a more scientific test for sure.

More than likely you can use the 16650 rechargeable but I’ll put it in the things to review file.

Gouki Shin no. Won’t fit. 16650 or rechargeable rcr123’s only but the latter my have too much voltage possibly.

It will fit, BUT... If you are using the filament style bulb it will probably burn it out pretty quick. If you have an LED head then you’ll be fine 👍

I like the size and run times are good but if you go into a hurricane and there's a few batteries you can scavenge is it a good option. Better off with a surefire AA or something. I love it, its perfect but I think they're not practical unless you can source your own stockpile of batteries. Basically

1665o. A bit tepid to to the 18650? I'd just run 18650 unless you have one of those odd 3 cell lights like elzetta Charlie. Then you gotta tabbel in the x2 16 series. But just get a 2 cell cr123 then bore it out a bit, Ill have video uploads of that eventually but then you can run either or. X2 cr123 or single 18650.

Why doesn’t Surefire want anyone to use rechargeables? I mean if that’s working why not? There saying no warranty for using other batteries not recommended for there lights? Anyone help clear this idea?
@CalebDowning5 жыл бұрын
I believe both SureFire and Streamlight offer rechargeable batteries now so I’m not sure why they wouldn’t recommend using them. Now, I do know there are differences in output in both lumens and battery “volts, amps, whatever” that can cause bulbs to burn up... so I can understand how that would effect warranty.

Ya i just wonder if you could use another brand?

Caleb Downing I have the Surefire eb1 300 lumens, light is amazing. Could I you a single cr123 rechargeable besides the one Surefire sells, like the one you have but single. Are there downsides? Thanks a bunch answering
@chriscord65244 жыл бұрын
SureFire never developed any batteries. They went with what was out there. There are far better cells than those they slap that sticker on. Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Molicel, Lg, Sanyo. These are the only companies on the planet earth that make quality cells. Fact. Everything else is someone putting a wrap ontop of a good one or trash. Including this Orbtronic, it’s an Lg cell with added protection on the top then wrapped. If a flattop won’t fit you can add a magnet or what i do is solder a blob ontop

I was able to squeeze a 17670 into mine. Also, running a single lithium ion battery you are under volting the light. In doing so you are likely only getting 70% of the light output. People have said that the tactician will get 500 lumens on a lith ion battery.
@freneticfanatic4 жыл бұрын
I saw several comments asking if lights that exclusively take Cr123a batteries would also fit 18650 batteries. Nope, 18650 won't fit. 18650's are 18mm in diameter. That's where the 18 comes from. 18mm in diameter and 650mm long = 18650. Since Cr123a batteries are 16mm wide you'd have to go with the 16650. Also, bear in mind that quality rechargeable batteries are mostly made in Japan, s Korea, Singapore. Almost 100% of the ones made in China are worthless and may destroy your light. Panasonic, Sanyo, Nitecore, Keeppower, Sony are all good brands. One last bit- a rechargeable will not be as bright and very well might not work in your light since it won't be pushing as much voltage. Cheers.

The reasoning is monetary gain. They make their own cr123a battery so obviously want to sell more of them. They sell non rechargeable cr123a batteries (for extremely high output flashlights) then say if you don't use our batteries your warranty is no mas. A quality rechargeable is an excellent alternative if you use your light gets heavy use
