There is no direct reference to this. The implication is that since Jacob, for that matter anyone in that era, knew not the scientific reasons for the stick technology, a divine instruction must have been given to Jacob. Since he was met by the Angel who met him in Bethel, of which he is talking about anyway, he must have been given instructions by the Angel. There are many instances when certain things are not inscribed in the Bible and yet understandable as happened.

Ur messages about Moses ( 19 parts) were simply beautiful . I have read Judges chapters 17&18 many times,and wondered what for this story is given. Your explanation of the name about Moses instead of Manasseh made me to understand instantly the intensity of the incidence / apostasy ,and hence , how it intiated fall of Northern Kingdom. In tamil Bible it's given as Manasseh, but many of the English Bibles it's given as Moses., including HRB by Don Esposito..May Yahshua Messiah grand u many many years to serve Him alone. Thanks a lot.
