I recall a job many years ago at an up market bungalow with a suspended floor. We found a 15mil fitting that had not been soldered and the flux had held it for at least 5 years before it failed. (It had been running full bore for a few days and the owner got the fire brigade to pump it out).

For that shower Tom if it's a square or rectangular tray you could just fit a pivot or sliding door and stud the other side up the sloping ceiling rather than box out the wall , assuming there is enough space to move the tray away from the wall anyway? ? Any plumbers who said they have never had a leak are lying . Goes with the job . Don't worry about it
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support as always mate, I think the idea is to bring the wall out 160mm away from the slope, that was the screen will fit, I will let the builder do that and then I will fit the tray, like you say every plumber gets leaks, it only takes a bit of contamination in the fitting and the solder won't flow, thanks for watching as always mate 👍

i agree with charles you are really concincious lol my spellin . anyway ..we did a lot of gax work and we came to the conclusion that we would use pre soldered fittings wherre we needed certainty ..i.e . heat the pipe n fitng untin the soldr appered and then as insurance run the hand held pre fluxed solder wire on the face of the fittngs .sometines there can be and imperfection on the pipe end . chemical . which the flux on an un pre soulder fitting dosent make bond ., by using a presoldered fitting . yu illiminate this possibility . if the end onpipe is brushed wit steel wool and fluxed .. and we found this so 100 per cent sucessful .esp. in iffy situations . we usd pre soldiered fittings nearly most of times ..cost was neg. under concreet . in wall . floors .i mean where do yo not need call back on . nway love you tom . lol

👍🏿👍🏿 Tom 👊🏾👊🏾 does the the surestop not need a cross earth bonding and the same to the heating pumps assuming the incoming water is a metal pipe and not plastic?? Why do you plumbers not ream your pipe cuts?? I've only ever seen PB pen reamer his cuts 🖋️🖋️🖋️😅😅 by the time you fooked about cutting desoldering gone down to the van came back clean flux soldered you could of cut and pressed a new fitting 😂😂😂😂😂 TM PRESS DON'T STRESS
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom Жыл бұрын
I leave all the bonding to the electricians, the sure stop will require bonding across to continue the continuity, generally heating pipes aren't bonded any more, only incoming supplies like water, gas and oil require bonding. Technically you should ream the pipe but honestly you will find most don't do it, I did it on a video a while back and someone commented that the bits of copper were falling into the pipe, the guy who taught me was a plumber for over 40 years and he never de-burred, I'm not saying it's right but it never caused him an issue during his entire career, thanks for watching as always Paul, it is greatly appreciated

Tom is lucky he's never had an issue with a SureShit ... sorry Surestop as I have! For no particular reason the microbore hoses split inside the outersleeving and piss water out all over the place. So a nice idea but a right fecking nightmare a few years on. Plus given these are aimed at little old dears as an alternative to having to route around in the back of an inaccessible cupboard makes them a even worse proposition! So any I come across these days I now advise the customer of their (the sureshit's) limitations especially if they've been in more than a few years. What is it with plumbing gear and 'plastic fantastic' low rent quality 🙄
