Love that type of fishing! Great advice too, brother. Don't need to cast far at all to find the fish, even trout and drum hang out surprisingly close to shore. Hope you had a great OBX trip!

There are definitely some larger species in the surf. I think it’s the accessibility to plenty of food that brings them shallow

This is my favorite way to surf fish. My friends make fun of me but I love catching spot and whiting. I mainly use the Fish Bites. Locals down there use nightcrawlers. They said they are cheaper than bloodworms and the fish can't tell the difference.

It’s funny you say that. I shot a video while I was down there with my brother-in-law. We fished side-by-side one of us fished Bloodworms the other fished fake Bloodworms. The results were interesting 👀

@@609Fishing Thanks for the responses! I just looked back in the description again and can't believe you're fishing on a 6 1/2 foot rod. I've done plenty of saltwater fishing but never from shore. 2 guys I work with fish the Texas coast from shore and they swear you have to have at least a 9 foot rod to get a decent cast out. Of course, you did say in the video that you weren't trying to cast as far as possible and a lot of these fish were just past the first breaker. Good to see a different perspective, I learned something! Thanks again!

Yes sand fleas work, I was having trouble finding them when I was down there. Yeah you can definitely get fluke from the beach there, just have to work the cuts & holes

So this was in Duck, no hotels up that way. But there’s plenty of beach to fish in the Outer Banks and most of them are similar to this. Nags head has a ton of hotels
