Surf Fishing with a DJI Phantom 3 Pro

I have the best cheapest and easiest and safest way to do this. all you need to do is make a loop with the line.slide the loop over your piece of wire. then you fly out with the drone facing 180 degrees from the way you did in this video then when you get out as far as you want just turn the drone around and simply back up while holding the line on shore and the loop will just slide off of the piece you have made

so to really drop the bait all you have to do is hold tention on the main line and it will just pull out from the basket most times. some you have to just play with it till it falls off. i think i have to practice this in a very large park that i can go about that far and then try to see how it would work out for me. thank you for this video.

+Mark Raiden Correct. I believe there's better ways to do it like using a key ring of some sort mentioned below. But the welding wire attached to the base of the Drone I believe is the best way to go about doing it.

Awesome video Russell! Got a question for you. Did the metal coat hanger interfere with your compass calibration? I made one that is similar for my Phantom 3 Pro that works a bit differently but the metal from the coathanger is making my the drone's compass lose calibration and it's flying erratically because of it. It's fine when I remove it.

+Luke Robilliard Hey man, thanks for the views.. Yep to get the weight off, it was a combination of aggressive movements and putting a little strain on the line (at the pole). It was my first time trying it. Next time I want to use some kind of cheap ring that goes over the metal piece so that when I want it off, I can just pull back and it will slide off more easily.

Good but the last bait surfing using the impact lead was wrong, I would use key ring or big swivel and slide it to the drone metal hook that you have

Tiger Gray the reel bail is open and once it’s closed, the line will stop moving with the drone and then it will drop in the water

All you need to do is put a small metal rod sticking straight out from the landing gear. Secure it with zip ties. Then just put your swivel on the metal rod. Fly your drone out turn it around pull softly on your line or just fly your drone backwards then the line will fall off. Simple and easy. No need for all the extra weight and servos.
