Diamond Head" was created by Dan Hamilton at the age of 15 after he met all the members of "The Ventures" in a recording studio. This became possible thanks to his older brother, Judd, who worked as the band's assistant. At that time, The Ventures were searching for new ideas, and Judd suggested they listen to the song his brother had composed. Dan and Bob lent a guitar to Dan, who played it perfectly, surprising everyone. They called Nokie to listen to it as well, and they were so impressed that they recorded it immediately. Months later, the song sold over a million copies in Japan. It was Dan's first million success, and with that money, he bought his first house in Los Angeles. Subsequently, Dan became a backup musician for The Ventures for many years, composed songs like "Escape," and collaborated with other artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Chad and Jeremy, Ronnie and the Daytonas, and Glen Campbell. He was also part of T-Bones and eventually formed his own Soft Rock band, "Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds." Dan composed his songs with an acoustic guitar, so it's likely that "Diamond Head" had its roots in an acoustic guitar. However, Dan was already an astonishing guitarist at the young age of 15.

Its thanks to you I have added Perifidia and Walk Don't run to my KZbin. However, I was/am in my view a good pub guitarist where as you are sharp enough in my view to be a session musician. As i am sure you are aware there is a major difference. My dedication and other things in my life do not give me the time to reach your level. I do appreciate the time and effort you put into your art....Many thanks !!!!

Well done as usual! Hey man, you could play for the Ventures if they ever needed another lead guitarist. Rip to Don Wilson, recent last of the original lineup. Their new new lineup is pretty good, but you would definitely make it with them, that's for sure.

Doing this one today, Tom. Really beautiful parts in this tune. Your backing track is excellent as always. I take your lessons and record each song with my own backing (I play drums, bass as well.... Really a drummer that got inpatient lol). I don't have a guitar with a trem bar just yet, so this one is perfect. Thanks, Tom!!

I record these tunes as a way to log my progress, and with folks like you posting accurate TABS and demonstrating proper technique, well my playing has soared "to the Stars" in just months. My recordings are a musical "journal." Been playing 22 years and just recently feel like I command the guitar. I'll leave guitar on KZbin to folks like you!

Nice cover! Not so easy to play, I learned it as well. I think they play with the bridge pickup if you want to sound closer to the original. Is it the the Squier CV Jazzmaster from CME? I have it in sunburst colors.

I recently got a squier 60s vibe jazzmaster, and the bridge pickup doesnt sound trebly and high like yours does! Im thinking i got a bad one... What effects are you using on the guitar for this part? Tone settings?

How on earth did you get the keyboard sound? What IS that? On the one hand I want to know what it is, but on the other I love mystery of having no idea what it is. I'm guessing it's some kind of primitive analog synth like an ondes martenot or a claviovox, but it doesn't quite sound like that. It kind of sounds like a Hammond, but it has pitch bends so it can't be. Surely it's not a guitar with an ebow. This is one of my biggest timbre mysteries.
