About to embark on my first surf perch 'safari' out to the S.W. Washington Coast. Hopefully, the weather is cooperative for 4-5 days. Camp where I can, since I live about 200 miles from there. Just wanted to say that you, and PK, on you tube have inspired this madness. Packing three rods, one a "Rockaway" 11', a 10 1/2 ' SST, and my old standby, an 'ug stick' I use for salmon on the Skagit. On previous trips to the coast, have seen people surf fishing, and always been curious about it. Gonna DO it.

One tip, the small silvers love the gulp sandworms. Clam, chunks of grocery store shrimp, or sand shrimp will get the big red tails.

I was planning on doing some surf perch fishing when I go razor clamming. Wouldn't the best time to fish, is do it after the clam dig, when the tide starts coming in?
@AnglingAddictsPNW2 жыл бұрын
The good thing about fishing for surfperch is that it’s basically an all day fishery. The fish are always there, but where you should cast and how far depends on the tide, conditions, sandbars, troughs, etc. Most do prefer an incoming tide though, and it seems pretty common that 2hrs before high tide through 2hrs after the tide change is what most prefer
@Condor19702 жыл бұрын
@@AnglingAddictsPNW... Thanks. It's good to know I don't have to wait arou d 5hrs after the dig to get decent hits.
@steveocallaghan16202 жыл бұрын
how deep is the water where you are standing? I tried surf fishing the other day and it felt really weird with the sand moving out from under my feet. I didn't feel comfortable wading out past my high calf area

Hey man what size weight do you use to keep it in there, but not ridiculously dragging? P.s. been binging your videos for the last week! Thanks for the awesome content!
@AnglingAddictsPNW Жыл бұрын
Haha that's awesome! I'm glad you've been enjoying the videos, thanks for binge watching them :) My go-to is a 2oz pyramid sinker. It seems to work in most conditions unless there is a strong current coming from the side, then it will drag or roll. It's not often i go to a 3oz but sometimes its necessary.

What a timely video, thanks! My youngest boy and I want to try this surf perch fishing thang and I always wondered about trying it there at Sunset since we spend a lot of time driving on the beach there. Question: Are waders required? Sort of look like it. Question 2: Are the fish just always in that whitewater or something? Thanks, again, for the timely video.
@shawnrobinson1072 жыл бұрын
Waders are definitely helpful with getting out to the fish without getting pneumonia Perch are feeding in the surf line during a rising tide.
