I just found your channel and i'm so thankful! In two weeks I'm planning on doing a Oregon and Northern California rockfish redemption tour. I grew up in NorCal and always loved to fish from shore but I pretty much sucked at it. I've lived in Eastern Arizona for over 20 years now. Thanks to KZbin and your channel I've got the itch to do an overland / fishing adventure down the coast. Thank you so much for the tootleedge! I'm going to start a fresh Virgin youtube channel just for our adventures. Our = Me and my young Siberian Husky.

@@AnglingAddictsPNW You should try out a fresh fillet of shad if you haven’t yet. It is incredible. I tried it for the first time last night and was amazed. My wife tried to eat it all before I could have a bite. The bones are so thin they soften up with a good cooking and you don’t notice them. Nick, do you have any tips to tell blue and black rockfish apart. I haven’t caught enough of either to be positive.
@AnglingAddictsPNW3 жыл бұрын
There are a few different ways but it can still be tricky.. the two that i use most are looking at the base of their dorsal fins.. Black rockfish have black spots all over them, whereas the blue rockfish don't have spots on their dorsal fin. Also, a black rockfish has a mouth more like a largemouth bass and there is a little nob at the end of their lower lip.. one that can be harder to tell is by where the back of their mouth/jaw is located in correlation to their eyes. A black rockfish's jaw extends just beyond the eye and a blue rockfish's jaw stops right about the middle of the eye... just a couple ways, but like i said, it can be tricky

How do you keep your fish fresh when you’re out there? Thanks for the great vid!
@AnglingAddictsPNW3 жыл бұрын
Most of the time I limit how long I am out, I’d rather cut a trip short than have fish that have been sitting out too long.. as you can see in the video, I wait to start keeping them and most these fish were caught within a couple hours.. but my normal method is to bleed them out quick and then every so often I dip them in the water to keep them moist, then they go straight to my cooler filled with ice
