Another very informative video on rigs, baits and reading the surf. Technique?, subtle technique! You rolled many more fish than Kevin fishing side by side with essentially the same baits. That beach background looked like Daytona. You were not using your Hawaiian Custom rod. Why? And it seemed the 5k fast retrieve reels are easier and may be better than the usual 4K reels? I appreciate, your thought process: very analytical and scientific.

Very good video I never fish for surf perch only trout and salmon but am getting my arsenal for perch now it look like a very nice fishing to do you and your friends load a lot of nice and imf videos keep up the good and fun job on videos thank you

This video was incredibly well put together and you sir were filled with information that you were just giving us. I have yet to try surf fishing. I had purchased like 2 or 3 combo's but never got the chance to go out to the ocean to try it. This year though I'm going to give it a shot. Vince you should try this Modified Carolina rig that I've been using for several years : I use a twisted drop shot 1.5 loop about 10 inches above the terminal Carolina hook. It never tangles with 2 hooks off a "Carolina" rig. On some rigs I have 2 TWISTED drop shot loops above the terminal Carolina hook. Short twisted drop shot loops work great! You can place drop shot loops anywhere on your 3-6 foot Carolina main line. That way you can use try different baits and see if one is favored.

I slip an open duo lock through the loop and twist it about 15 times, that makes FOR about a 1.5 inch dropper loop. Then, I do the normal 6 twists to from the normal drop loop and feed that duo lock with the twisted line back through it. Pull the drop loop tight and NOW you have the double line, twisted loop/line through like the regular drop loop. It makes a tightly twisted dropper to slip through the hook eye. Make sense? You can break off with 30# braid when casting. I’ve lost 3 LC 110 flash minnows when my bail closed during a cast with 30# braid.

Appreciate the long video with tons of information! Any chance we can get one (maybe during the summer when the bite is hotter as you mentioned) for halibut with this same method? I’ve been struggling to dial those guys in this year. Appreciate the content and look forward to the next one

I these methods are specifically for surf perch. They is catch striped bass too. For halibut, we fish totally different structure with different techniques. I’d love to make a vid like this for halibut fishing. If you come join me for a halibut session this year I’ll make a vid like this. Ill try and share all my info in one vid, it’ll be rad. I’m sure I was using gamakatsu rebarb light wire and I prefer the size #2 hook. This hook is produced by roboworm you’ll find it for sale. I don’t prefer the Aberdeen style just the regular straight hook point is my fav.
