Started on a mal in 1964 now aged 72 I've gone up in length and volume. Missing too many waves. O60's was good for a while but by 68 years old all these hot "young" Over 55 year olds stated filtering into the O60's. Bugger that so put up my case and got an O65 division added last year to Surfing Australia! Makes a big difference but kudos to SurfingNSW who I approached for listening and following through. 😍

Be there soon.. They just created an o/65 category for the comps here..

Mahalos for sharing. Ill be 60 in a month so i really enjoyed your insight of the past and the boards evolution trip. Basically similar past as far as equipment and the value of being a surfer. Aloha

I must have drive the road between PE and Knysna 100’s of times in my life. As an ex South African it was nostalgic to take that drive with you. Lots of familiar places.

Did you know Syder Murphey? Being from California, same age as you. We used to hear he was a great shaper in the day there in SA.

Thanks for another great video, Trevor!!! Loved hearing your story of being one of the lucky ones who grew up being able to ride all the different generations of boards. My dad grew up in the 1930s in the South Bay here in So Calif and had only surfed on those crazy, gigantic long boards. At the time, there was some guy in the area known to have made some decent boards and my dad had a couple of them that he apparently loved dearly. Later in life, he would marvel at what the young guys could do on the short boards. Wish he were alive to be able to see you and your videos. He'd love it!!!

8:36 - I'll be doing the garden route in August. Do you have any advice for driving it? You said they trap like crazy along there, just want to stay safe. Love your vids Trev!
@oceanadventures3654 ай бұрын
Stay strictly to the speed limit the cops are on it there.. Dont talk on cellphone either.. Depending on the time you have go check out the nooks and crannies.. Some cool places. August we have big swell so the small places may be too big. Watch the charts Vic good up to 3m after that.. 🌊🌊🌊

Think about doing a Documentary on JBay from the 1950's through 2024...The must be great 16mm; 8mm; super 8; 35 mm film from locals to create a Documentary. Just a thought.

@@oceanadventures365 Your journey is similar to mine starting in 1964 while living in Malibu. Started on longboards twice my height. Single skeg. Wish I had shot more footage on my 8mm and super 8mm. Mistake.

Yeah we had 16mm footage of Bruces from a 1976 swell that somehow got lost... I could have really shown how good that break was back then... Very sad
