crazy how i clicked on this video not knowing this band and before they started playing i was wondering why there isn’t that many Bass Guitarist who are also the Lead Vocalist of the band and a second after that thought the bass player stats singing ... (COMPLETELY CAUGHT OFF GUARD!)

Because of how the bass is usualy played (fingerstyle) it take a lot of skill to play sincopated bass lines while singing. The rhythm guitar is (usually, too) more of a full hand or body movement that makes it easier to stay on rhythm (still not easy to do), but bass is definetely harder.

As an electric bassist, this has been my experience. If the cadence of the vocals match some subdivision of the bass line it is not too bad but if the vocals slew across the timing, which in my experience they often do, it can be quite tough, for me anyway. I admire bassists who can pull this off well.
