Three easy home drills for technique for surf ski or kayak
1. Elbows to knees - focus on shoulder and hip rotation to bring your elbow and knee together. Right elbow to right knee and left elbow to left knee
2. Using a stick or paddle (paddles can be a bit long for this…you might hit things around you 😅) with the stick in front of you in a neutral position elbows bent bring your left knee to left elbow and right knee to right elbow
3. Pause when your elbow and knee touch extend you bottom hand to get yourself in a set up position and practise taking a stroke without moving your arms ie using rotation
These drills will help you with sore wrists as it takes the pressure of your arms and let’s the big muscles to the work.
