I cannot thank you enough for doing this series for the surface area of all these shapes I sat down with my notebook and understood everything and my finals are tomorrow so because of this I have a much higher expectation for myself and feel more confident. You honestly have no idea how much this helped me. My RSM homework had many Lateral area problems with slants and I did not understand what the heck was happening. You not only helped me understand a big geometry concept, but brought my homework grade from a 63 to a 100, as well as keeping as one of the smartest in my class :)

I love in this video how he shows all of his work. They’re people out there that just put the answer and you don’t know how they got the answer and that’s where confusion starts. So I think it’s good to show the work and how he did it.

A square pyramid is the same formula, except that you don't multiply the area of the base by 1/2. So if your given 1 side length to be 4 inches for example, the area of the base would be 16 since all sides of a square are equal length. A triangle is half of a square hence why the step to multiply by 1/2 or divide by 2 is added.
