1 he adsorption In whICh deLu of a solid occurs on account of weak van der Waals' forces is called physical adsorption or physisorption. It is also called as van der Waals' adsorption. Characteristics of Physisorption (i), Lack of specificity A given surface of an adsorbent does not show any preference for a particular gas as the van der Waals' forces are universal. (ii) Nature of adsorbate The amount of gas adsorbed by solid depends on the nature of gas. In general, easily liquefiable gases (with higher critical temperature) are readily adsorbed as van der Waals' forces are stronger near the critical temperatures. e.g. 1 g of activated charcoal adsorbs different gases to different extents depending upon their critical temperature in the order as shown below: SO, > CHA > H2 630 K 190 K 33 K (in) Reversible nature It is a reversible and exothermic process. Solid + Gas : Gas/Solid + Heat According to Le-Chatelier's principle, on increasing pressure, equilibrium will shift in the forward direction, i.e. more of gas is adsorbed (the volume of the gas decreases). On increasing temperature, equilibrium will shift in the backward direction. i.e. extent of adsorption decreases. Therefore, physisorption occurs readily at low temperature.

ma'am I always watch your video but nowadays I am seeing lots of mistake in your videos you even don't see comments after a year and lots of people study the things wrong like in this video at 1:37 you shown and said that lowering in vapour pressure is colligative property but it's not relative lowering in vapour pressure is colligative and lowering is not

Mam, you didn't discuss the following topics in this video - Catalysis including catalysis of enzymes emulsion and it's applications Concept of Zeta Potential Zsigmondy's observations in Tyndall effect These are discussed in detail in CBSE NCERT mam, so hopefully you'll release a part-2 . The explanation would be very helpful. Thank you.
