This little PC has replaced my larger 13" HP computer and gives me what I need when traveling! No complaints so far...the build quality is fantastic. I just love it! No need to wait for a Surface Go 2 update.

I'v been researching for a good tablet/laptop replacement for media consumption/studies/work, and this really came close, but what prevents me is battery life, mainly and also the repairability of the device...seems really low. Its quite good. I bought on launch day, and its been pretty faithful so far. Kickstand has developed a little more slack than I’d like, but thats basically the only neg. I use it for field work (technical) and it puts up with it just fine. I only kick myself for not holding off until the LTE enabled device came to market. I owned the Pro a while ago, and I couldn’t one-hand it. This one, I can.

I would not like to be the bringer of bad news but, realistically, I doubt you can do a lot better than this with the current technology. More battery means bigger chassis, better processor means less battery and more heat, which is also true for a better display. I had a Surface "one" and it was my best computer: powerful enough, display was good enough, size was good enough (bulky but it worked and did not burnt itself)... Battery life: not so good. The decision here is exchange battery for processor. An ipad pro has a good enough processor and great battery life but can not be used for some intensive tasks (not taking into account the limitations of the OS). This new surface seems to be identical to a surface "one" where you sacrifice power and termals (under stress no fan is an issue) for a better form factor and marginal improvements. I think this model takes better decisions. By the way: excellent channel, I don't really understand why your channel is not one the most successful in technology, you are very, very good.

You could do it with ARM... Which was the original intention of this device.

I use the Surface Go as my main laptop for two months now, and I'm quite impressed by its usefulness and overall performances. I use it for web browsing, Word Editing, websites management, some photo modifications… It's a very great device!

I love my Surface Go, I got the 64GB eMMC and I'm using a MicroSD for extra Storage. I Still use my iPads but I find myself using this Device A LOT for Work, but the Window's S Mode CAN be a bit troublesome as I love downloading third party Apps. Window's Hello DOES sometimes fail so inputting a Pin to unlock it can be a BIT troublesome, but I still like it.

I love my Surface Go! I've had it for a few weeks now (typing on it now). I think a lot of the tech reviewers give the Go a bad rap. I love mine and am glad I sold my iPad Pro to get this. I love being able to run real PC apps, file folders, etc. I got the 128 GB model with a burgundy keyboard and matching pen.

Same I sold my iPad Pro 12.9 and I mainly use the Go for KZbin, Netflix and yes haha, some Roblox but I got the Surface Go with a 256GB Micro SD Card. No regrets amazing! Who ever bought an iPad over the Surface Go, massive mistake.

I am also a person pursues very lightweight 2-in-1 Windows 10 tablet. Additionally, I find it seems that the USB-C of Surface Go is also usually underrated. It can buy a USB-C hub with USB-A*4 (for keyboard, mouse, flash drive, gamepad), USB power delivery, LAN, HDMI, 3.5mm audio ports for Surface Go. With it, it can switch a Surface Go between desktop mode and table mode with only one USB-C connection.

i'm running a surface pro 4 with 4 gb of ram, and for my use is perfectly reasonable, bought it for CAD work, i was sceptical at first but it runs it without problem. SolidWorks is actually using less resources than Chrome :))

I have a pro 3 4gb and I sometimes use Catia on it, and it's fine for most of the time. The only problem is that loading takes forever as it's a single threaded program. Otherwise it's a really great companion for university. It's light enough to carry it everyday, has great battery life and great performance. (when windows isn't doing something in the background)

Maybe the Chrome scrolling issue has been fixed by now, but I've read that Chrome Canary (experimental Chrome) has excellent scrolling on the Surface Go!

But as for marketing and business stand point, I think MS would not go for that approach. They just want us to go for the Pro variant if we want sometime better from the Go. Damn it will be interesting what microsoft will offer if the make a surface go 2 but right now with a little bit luck u can get the 8gb version for under 400€ as used sometimes even new. And for that budget price point nothing gets closed to it's light touch.

Nice review. I have one and am very happy with it. It is so portable and great for taking notes. I would recommend buying a different Bluetooth mouse to the surface mouse as it sits quite shallow in the palm and can lead to fatigue with overuse.

I think it is great with One Note for taking notes. Also you can copy and paste notes from online or scan them then add them onto One Note.

I have the Surface Pro LTE. It works like a breeze. Working on a train used to be a struggle. Bad WiFi meant onenote and most other apps coughing up sync errors or freezing. Not anymore. I miss the i7 processor and even more the 512 GB I had on my old Surface Pro 4. But LTE makes up for all that. I want the Surface Go but will wait until I read some user reviews on the Surface Go LTE.

For me this device is awesome, on the move I can do Zbrush on it until I reach a medium phase of the sculpt at hand, then I will just sd card it into my desktop and finish it there, I play Crusader King 2 on my Go, Minecraft for my son, Torchlight 2, also I use Geforce Now sometimes to play some bigger games on the move, just need a good internet connection for this part. So yeah, pretty happy with the device. Can it beat my desktop in performance? No but when I bought the GO I knew why I was buying it :)

Watching youtube at half brightness with high performance mode on, I am getting 6 hours and 45 minutes.. Playing minecraft on high performance, half brightness I am getting 4 hours and 27 minutes Web browsing (Firefox) I am getting 8 hours and 59 minutes ... Not sure why it's a deal breaker for you, for a tablet in this form factor and it being passively cooled, that's incredible

I bought it seeing some reviews. Complete sluggish software with very small UI elements. Win 10 sucks in this. Very less performance compared to iPad. Slowest virtual keyboard ever. I don't why would anyone buy this. No one deserves this thing. Don't trust reviewers. iPad is cheaper too. Nothing much works on it. Not much apps. Chromebook is way better for price for those who don't like apple. 3rd party small apps could run that's it. Even chrome sucks in this get used to edge. Returned it.

I felt iPad is underrated after using this. Trust me, worst desicion ever in your life will be buying this for that price. Chromebook or iPad for less price. The windows on this one is the tiniest slowest one ever on any device.

Hi Kiran, I have an iPad Air 2, a 12.9 Pro with the A10X, a Galaxy Note 2014 10.1, and my Surface Go is my current daily driver. Yes, it can be at times slower than the iPads, but never (to me) to the point where I feel I am waiting for the thing to react. Great Windows 10 experience, also surprisingly good in tablet mode, although it still could be improved. But the versatility of the thing is unmatched, simply. The only thing where it is a little disappointing is, as said in the review, the battery life, although 6 hours is not that bad, especially when my power bank can charge it over usb-c, as it does my phone. An amazing device, sorry you don’t have the same experience. Either a software problem or simply different expectations.

The weak CPU basically cripples the device. I just compared Surface GO against the Surface Pro and with 15 browser tabs open the GO is stuck @100% pretty fast and soon starts to throttle making things even worse. Heat is an issue too since it gets really hot at the backside. Probably not an issue when opening just 1 Browser tab

The cpu is pretty adequate for what this device is supposed to be imo,which is a secondary device . Its just that people fall in love with the form factor and start using it as a main computer, stressing it to the limit. Like you said , for heavier usage the Pro fits much better :)

NEVER had that issue.. With the 8GB model.. I have had Minecraft open, 5 browser tabs open, OBS, discord and music for a livestream and it did not throttle or get stuck at all.. Sounds like you had the 4GB model, if not then your either lying or it's a fault.
