Quick tip on the Trizact belt: Use a file card frequently on the belt while it's running. It removes the grinding build up and it'll cut as good as new. You can use the belt all the way to the backing. And thanks for this video!

Well I really appreciate the tip! However I don’t know what a file card is?

@@gentrycustomknives8008 Sorry about that! It's like a small wire brush with really short, stiff wires. You can also use a diamond grinding wheel dressing tool. Those work even better, but remove a lot of grit if you push too hard.

Well I better get one of those ordered!

I don’t have a surface grinder attachment, but I do have a suggestion for removing fillings and debris from the magnet. I use a well built, stiff bristled paint brush. It’s very effective at removing the unwanted stuff; not so much at removing a hot blade. ☹️ Good video.👍

Great overview of the OBM surface grinder. I have one on my old KMG (doesn’t go horizontal) and thankfully you can adjust the angle where you don’t have to raise it vertically as you were showing. That would be a deal breaker as it would wreck your shoulders. Now OBM just needs to add permanent magnets that can be turned on and off as the grinder dust is tough to clean off. Nice video as always!

That would be an awesome feature!!!

Could place a thin piece of plastic bag like a contractor's worksite garbage bag on the surface grinder 1st then place your blade on it..or maybe some plastic garden weed shield etc..all the metal dust will collect on the plastic bag, that can simply be removed after grinding etc..

Man, I sure appreciate your videos. I’ve learned a ton, watching them. Thank you for taking the time. I have a surface grinder with my AmeriBrade 2x72. It’s a fantastic grinder. Does everything very well, but I get a bit of a jitter in my surface grinds. Not sure f it is the belts with the tape, connecting them or if something just isn’t working right. Wondering if you’ve had the same issue at all and if there might be a fix. Different brand so not sure if you’ll have an answer, but hoping for the best. Beautiful work, you do, brother. Thanks again for helping the community out.

I’ve had other people say that aswell. I haven’t experienced that with my setup. However I only go up to 180 grit belts on mine normally and I got the upgraded contact wheel from origin blade maker so that might be why. Thanks for checking out the videos!

@@gentrycustomknives8008 I dig into it this morning. Found the issue. It was a loose Allen screw. Was allowing for that movement. Thanks for getting back to me. Doing my first dagger, flat ground, this week. I’ve always been a one trick pony with an 8” contact wheel hollow. Have a great week. Your work ethic is awesome. To see the amount of blades you produce is impressive. I’m full time now so hoping I can get to that point. Take care.

I use a welders squaring magnet to hold the knife when cleaning up on a flat platen. It’s strong enough to hold the steel and keeps from burning finger tips and grinding you knuckles!

Do you think the OBM surface grinder would fit a Brodbeck?
@cyvlahos46912 жыл бұрын
It does. I just got my OBM surface grinder attachment. I had expected to have to add or remove spacers to make work. It fit and works with out any modifications.
