I agree with hmlanding, I have a saltist 50 and an 8 jig stick. Don't buy an avet for casting or any lever drag for that matter.

A bare aluminum jig works pretty damn good most of the time and 2ft of wire ( single strand) helps with the action

I'm hitting Clemente this weekend. Capt suggested orange and red yoyo's for YT. What would you reccomend? You said go with passive colors like green, bird shit and blue. He said all neon and brights. I know you covered a lot of fishing styles. Is yoyoing different? Also I think they are throwing out anchovi for the day. Much appreciated. First charter trip.
@GetBitSportfishing9 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, the yoyo is a lot easier. Usually I use a scrambled egg pattern, if the yellows are on the red crabs, I like to go with anything red or brown. Currently the YT out there are stuffing themselves full of those red crabs, so I would have a few red/orange red crab type jigs. I'm still doing pretty good on the scrambled egg though. I'll be out there this weekend too on the Fortune. Good luck!

What size wait jig do you use for surface fishing? Thanks
@733jigcaster6 Жыл бұрын
Well then you did pretty much cover it offset hole and hips I always look for any other imperfections I always clean out the whole get the paint out of there I also like to clean out the hole for the treble hook just so when The jig kicks the hooks wings cleanly good fishing to you

@sdfish02 I'm down to show you how its done. Come on down to the Q105 when we run our next trip, ill be working the deck. You don't even have to bring ur rod, I got 3 ULUA 10 footers on the boat. Just bring your best jig. make sure to spin in!

do you think a 4.5 ounce jig would be good for 100-200 feet depth?
@THETERPZ2 жыл бұрын
Got me, the color doesn’t matter, unless it’s calico bass. The way you can make the jig swim is everything. Not everyone can make a jig swim as it should.

How much top shot do you run, and does floro make a difference? Thanks
@jessehernandez50437 жыл бұрын
Evan Schrecongost really depends. Ive caught them on straight braid, mono, and flouro. Tuna care more than yellows typically but sonetimes yellows are picky too.
@kenny74696 жыл бұрын
3 to4 feet topshot is enough for these jigs, and thats for extra caution, just in case the fishes are super picky. Usually it doesn’t matter. I would use chrome or bright color for yoyo, make it more visible in the deep

Will a 7 ft rod be a good rod to toss the iron.?
@mocruz120010 жыл бұрын
i like to use an 8 ft rod minimum. fishing in mexico, the boils show up and leave extremely quickly, so having the extra range makes a big difference
@gliblyaware Жыл бұрын
I've always looked for an off-center hole. That said, you really never know how a jig will swim until you fish it.
