Did you make a choice yet? I think if battery life is REALLY important go with the Arm one. if speed is more important and you can plug the device in a few times a day if needed or work while plugged in get the intel. Although there is likely a refresh to the surface line in a few months that could be a good solid jump forward.

Any idea when reviewers will get their hands on the 9? Do they need to wait until release date or do they get them prior to release date?

They have a embargo ull have to wait till next week

Kinda sucks tat you can't get both an x86 cpu and 4/5g, which is why I'll stick to my surface pro 7+ with an i5 and 4G. There really aren't that many native windows on ARM programs and I imagine any emulation or whatever they use to make normal programs work at all is not 100% compatible and has worse performance. Only having 5G on the arm one kinda makes me worried about upgrades, I need x86 and I need 4 or 5G connectivity (using WiFi hotspot or usb tethering with my phone is way to annoying and drains my phones battery) and there really aren't many options when it comes to x86 2 in 1 tablets with 4 or 5G connectiviy, so I really hope microsoft goes back to offering 5G on their X86 surfaces (don't care if it's intel or if they go AMD), otherwise I have pretty much no upgrade path other then buying a years old surface pro 8 in a few years when I decide to upgrade.

Is the Surface Pro 9 ARM version powerful enough to drive dual external displays? Possibly using a Surface Dock.

Hi, is photoshop/ Artcam / coreldraw can work properly in Surface pro 9 5G ???
@TabletPro2 жыл бұрын
good question. I'm not sure. I remember a while ago testing a version of coreldraw that worked on the ARM version. But I don't remember if it was hard to find. I almost want to recommend to people that if they aren't decently tech savvy and if they install more than 3-5 new programs a year to just avoid the Pro 9 5g. But it may be better than it used to be by a lot. Idk.

Do emulators like cemu and dolphin work on ARM also Android apps through emulation - because that’s the only gaming I would use on it

The Android sub-system works on Windows for Arm. Dolphin has an Arm-native version for Windows Arm. Cemu looks to work emulated on Windows for Arm, albeit very, very slow on a Snapdragon 845. All in all: you should be good to go :-)

I love the Pro X. But it lacks a bit of processing power and I would love to get an upgrade. BUT : The Pro 9 5G ist about 2mm thicker and about 100g heavier. This sucks I think. Really bothers me that they made the intel and arm version with the same case ..... Question: MS states on their website the Pro 9 5G supports SSDs up to 512GB. The Pro 9 (Intel) supports SSD up to 1TB. Is this only what MS offers or can I rly not put a 1TB SSD in the Pro 9 5G. If i buy the Pro 9 5G for smoother and faster photo editing I want to put a big SSD in it. 512GB wouldn't be enough.
@TabletPro2 жыл бұрын
I believe @cbutters would have an idea on the Pro 5g ssd swap. He is planning on putting a 2tb ssd into the intel Pro 9. I'm talking to him soon. I can ask his thoughts as well.
@DojiKing2 жыл бұрын
The statement on there website is they offer up to 512g on 5g and up to 1tb on the intel one. Yes I know you can upgrade the intel one to a 2tb cause I just did it on one I was setting up for a friend. So I’m sure the 5g can be upgraded as well. I don’t think there be a limitation cause even phones have 1tb versions now. My advice is get a 1tb or even a 2tb 2230 ssd and try it. Tip find one that has the ability to return it if you don’t like it. So worse case it don’t work you can just get your money back. Also some bought on eBay are DOA so if it don’t work first try to switch it out and try again. If the 2ed one don’t work just get money back and put the factory one back in.

Eyes tracking and all these cool features are only on 5g version only. For me also, i really like the battery, the no fan hardware also. I hope that also it will be less hot than the surfce pro 8. I have the i7 version...and OMG it can become so hooot ! i hate that when u have to write something it's really a bad feeling. As u said..the intel version will be more compatible, and more efficient than the ARM version.... The price increase of 3/400 $ no ?

@@andycc1989 you can attach an eGPU and you can play games on it. The CPU performance is pretty decent. Get a surface dock 2 which has 199W power output and 2 thunderbolt USB-C ports among others. It's definitely possible.

I do light gaming on my Surface Pro 7+ (mostly indie games that aren't that heavy), because a gaming laptop would be way to heavy to carry around everywhere, even a normal laptop just isn't portable enough. I primary use a tablet to do things like watching youtube or browsing on the go (I could use my phone but the screen of a phone is so small that it's just annoying to use for these things), and the surface let's me do that, while also beings able to run some less demanding gaming, while a gaming laptop or even just a normal laptop that's not a tablet isn't really useable in like a car where you don't have the space to use the keyboard. I also have a desktop gaming at home for more demanding games. None of the Surface Pro 9 version do what I need tough, I need X86 for the light gaming, but also 4/5G for browsing the web and watching youtube on the go (to lazy to use WiFi hotspot every time).

It's really much simpler - just don't get the ARM version. Just don't. There's no benefit. Qualcomm is not great at CPUs, Microsoft is not great at x86-64 on ARM emulation.

No more Surface Pro for me. I am still annoyed no micro sd. I use it & I don't want to have an adapter (defeats the purpose of a tablet). And yes, I already use the 1TB version w/ a 500gb micro sd. * Time for a ipad... at least I can use pro create. * Also, Windows 11 sucks for a Surface. It's not too bad for the PC but, Windows 10 was so much better. Microsoft really needs to stop trying to be Apple &/or Android. Every other operating system sucks & I bet Win 12 is more like Win 10. * If we wanted Windows to be like Apple or Android, there would be no need for Windows at all!!!
