If only the app's UI design hadn't been so effed up as to require it. EDIT: If you want an intuitive UI that will have you up and running in minutes, you need look no farther than MAGIX Vegas...any version.

Premiere Pro has been sitting on my computer for a year now. Every time I opened it in an attempt to move on from my basic skills in WMM, I was just lost in the interface and myriad of options. This tutorial was EXCELLENT it got me started and more importantly, it got me exploring premiere pro competently. Thank you, and subscribed.

I'm an ex-WMM convert too and found myself in the same situation. Been on my laptop for a while but I was just so intimidated by the whole layout of it!

One thing I like about this tutorial is it accounts for any problems someone may encounter (like how you mentioned the layout may be different or may get a different pop up)) I have been confused many times by other tutorials when they dont mention things like that.

Oh my goodness, everything makes sense now. Your video is awesome, you made everything simple and you didn't send your cursor flying around the screen, you moved it directly to where it needed to go. I hate people that constantly move the darn cursor all over the screen for no darn reason. It confuses the heck out'a me. Thank you, thank you...thank you!!! Great tutorial.

Good guide. :D I've been using Sony Vegas for 5 years and got really used to it, but still I find it more intuitive compared to premiere, what shocks me is how much faster premiere renders compared to vegas, so I wanted to try it and I find it quite harder. But some things are a bit frustrating, in vegas you can just drag and drop everything, you can fade in/out and change opacity easier, see thumbnails and waves from start on layers and especially zoom in/out and animate the zoom on text, clips or images a lot faster in vegas. :D
@SurfacedStudio8 жыл бұрын
I never used Sony Vegas before so I can't compare. Personally I like the flow in Premiere Pro and have gotten very used to all of it's features. And in combination with After Effects I can do everything I need to :) In the end you need to pick whatever works best for you
@RemusNeo8 жыл бұрын
True. :D

I agree; Vegas is much easier to use, but Premiere has a superior renderer. A lot of shops insist on proficiency, though. I find it's like being told, "oh, and for making holes in things? We don't use drills here. But here's a hammer and a set of spikes."

But once I play have recorded it (without exporting it) it has those black lines on the side even though the ratio of my screen and the ratio that I am recording with are the same. But when I put it into full screen the black lines are gone. Pls help! (btw my screen recorder is dxtory)

Where and how are you playing back the video when you see the black bars? Are you sure your preview window isn't simply scaled down - it will keep the ratio of the video so you may see black bars there?

I just find that we can do anything if we want to in After effects. I usally shoot all of my clips of my short film in 60p so I can slow them down anytime to match them with the intensity of the music (as I don't get custom background score made for me obviously). Can I slow my clips down and make them fast again using twixtor (300 effect) in Premiere Pro. If yes, please a tutorial :D
@SurfacedStudio9 жыл бұрын
Yes - don't think it's worth a tutorial though. After Effects gets messy if you have 100+ edits in your video as each clip will have its won lane. Premiere Pro is much more suitable to the 'editing' part, AE is meant to be for adding the cool VFX stuff

You're not an idiot (and you better get past that idea if you're going to make any progress in life). This guy's accent is not merely obscure, it's incomprehensible. I truly do not understand why any company would hire this guy to speak to Americans. I doubt he's a native English speaker; I'm thinking northern Germany for his birthplace. This is NOT a "tutorial for an absolute beginner." Partly because the guy's accent is as thick as mango trees in Cuba. Example: Americans say EYE-CON, this bizarre chap says "EYE-cun." It's a small difference, but given how fast he's talking, it's a major difference, and the net result is, you can get lost quickly.. The other reason this is not for beginners is, he goes way too fast. Many, many, many better options available for beginners.
@sofiel.19317 жыл бұрын
+B. Frost I'm not even American and I understood every single word. But if you really don't understand, you can just turn on the subtitles. Plus I never used Premiere before and I made my first short movie today thanks to this guy. I've seen a lot of tutorials like this on youtube but this is by far the best one. And he's definitely not going too fast. If he went any slower, he'd be going backwards.

Delighted that you replied! I’ve been struggling so much since I bought my Premiere Pro subscription, and I’ve been suuuuper intimidated to release my second video. The road appeared so uphill, and honestly, till I saw your video today, I’ve been regretting the Adobe purchase. I shall try again tonight. By the way, found your accent pretty interesting! Is there any German or Austrian connection ? Just curious :-)
@SurfacedStudio6 жыл бұрын
It makes me happy to hear that my video is having an impact (no matter how small) and I totally agree that Premiere can be a little intimidating at first - but it's all not that bad once you get a hang of the basics :) Give it another try, it's a really powerful tool and I personally edit all my videos with it. I'm a German living in Australia so I reckon my accent is more 'Germalian' these days, but I doubt I'd ever lose my original accent completely XD

This is what looks like a tutorial for a beginner who doesn't understand the software rather the final requirement of the video and how the step just before that looks like. An eagle's view. Rest can come later. But this is the source of motivation for someone to understand where this software fits in the art of video making.

Thank you so much for the kind feedback. It's great to hear that people enjoy my silly little tutorials - I like to share what I learn myself and I guess it helps that I have gotten over being too concerned with making a fool of myself online :D

I confess this is my first experience with premier, I always thought it was a seven headed beast; maybe it is, but you made it easy to kill. Well done

Haha, thanks for the comment and nice metaphor. It's actually a fairly tame animal once you get to know it :)

Really nice. Easy to understand. I like that you use both the icon and the short cut. For me who have problem to remember all the shortcuts, icon is really helpful. Thanks.
