I think giving the wall and groud a green diffuse will have a good result if you want to get shadow catcher in eevee. Just chroma key it in after effects and it still leaves the shadow.

Huge thanks for namedropping fSpy. I watched this tutorial only to see if blender has gotten something akin to C4D's camera calibration tool. fSpy fits the bill perfectly for a FOSS replacement
@SurfacedStudio4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment and for pointing out fSpy :) Looks pretty neat. I think I tend to try to avoid plugins / external tools as much as I can since they can introduce additional complexity and for a still image camera match you can get away with a fairly simple eyeball-match in Blender. But that's just my personal opinion, I might give fSpy a try at some point just so I know what that workflow would be like :)

@SurfacedStudio3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for the comment :) I haven't used Unreal Engine before so I can't really compare it to Blender. Does Unreal Engine allow to render your scenes and use things such as shadow catchers or multi-pass export (for lights, shadows, etc)?
@michaelray56223 жыл бұрын
@@SurfacedStudio , I’ve not used Unreal Engine 5 nearly as much as Blender. URE5 is being used in movie production and it uses a new real-time lighting system called Lumen in which I guess is an alternative to Ray Tracing. I’m practicing with Unreal Engine 5 because it will eventually utilize AMDs RDNA 2 technology (parallel processing) for more real-time features. They are using it for the new consoles so its only a matter of time that this feature is released for Windows. DirectX 11 is series processing geared for NVIDIAs Cuda but DirectX 12 in its full glory is programmed for efficient parallel processing so it’s going to be interesting.

When I say stuck, I mean the animation, as seen in the viewport, does not render out, and it just renders multiple instances of the random static frame. @DPLawlorFilms2 жыл бұрын
How does everyone feel about compositing using After Effects rather than doing it in Blender? Isnt AE typically less proficient with 3D than 2D?
@SurfacedStudio2 жыл бұрын
AE is a much better tool for Compositing (it's what it's built for) than Blender. Blender is great for 3D but once that's rendered you get much more power and control moving to a dedicated program (such as AE or Nuke or Fusion) for compositing

Instead of an environment map app would a Lidar scan off Polycam on my iPhone do the same or similar thing
@SurfacedStudio3 жыл бұрын
As long as it's a seamless spherical image you can use it as an Environment map :)

Is this possible with tracking? I’m trying to replace somebody’s head with a bloody neck stub as they turn and face the camera.

I would recommend fspy for matching photos to blender
@SurfacedStudio4 жыл бұрын
You can and it looks like a useful tool :) For simple static shots I've always just done a manual match

Thank you. Did you ever cover 3d camera tracking already? With an animated 3d object?
@SurfacedStudio4 жыл бұрын
I haven't yet, it's one of the many things still on my todo list!

@@SurfacedStudio Looking forward to it! Great work!!

LITERALLY was looking for this. I know the workflow with C4D and AR but haven’t tried working with Blender and AE. Thank you for this 🙏🏾

That worked out well :) Thank you very much for the comment!

Is it a good idea to add lightning to a dark video? If it is how to you do it for moving footage?
@SurfacedStudio2 жыл бұрын
Not sure how you define if it’s a ‘good’ or ‘bad’. You certainly can. If you have moving footage you need to use a 3D camera tracker - Blender has a solid one inbuilt :)

How can i render beauty pass, shadows and AO is separate passes in png in blender? I cant find any videos showing this..
@kebakha33484 жыл бұрын
Like your videos very much!!! Keet it up :) Isn't blender default cube side's set to be 2 m long (which are shown in dimensions settings) instead of 1 m? Because in this case, cube should have been bigger than the human height, and camera-viewport placement would have been different
@SurfacedStudio4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment and you're right! The default cube is actually 2x2x2m :)

Hai bro.. i wanna ask something, When I export the obj sequence file, why is the process taking too long, sometimes it takes hours, and the total size of the obj file is 2 GB more (even then the export process has not been completed).. how to fix it??
@SurfacedStudio4 жыл бұрын
How many polygons does you have in your scene and how long is your animation? Really just comes down to numbers in the end - and the power of your computer

@@SurfacedStudio I made a 3d donut and made an animation for 180 seconds ..

This is a great channel, your videos are very clear and well explained, could you do a video of the same thing but in hitflim express?
@SurfacedStudio4 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much :) I might at some point, but the basics are very much the same no matter what program you use for the 'compositing' part of the effect. I got quite a few tutorials that cover all the basics for HitFilm Express

Hey! Thanx for the videos! I´ve seen some and they look amazing! I have a question if you might point me in the right direction maybe. How can I interact with a 3d object? IDK if you have seen FXHome youtube channel about grabing a 3d thor hammer. But i am more like you.. blender + after effects. I found that video extremely thedious to follow and maybe im wrong, but there must be a less time consuming way to do such a trick. Forget about the hammer, think of a spaseship steering wheel. a 3d gun, or a lever. I still cant find a way interact with a 3d object WHEN fingers are all across de object. It would be easy to hold something or have something over you. But grabbing it. I cant a single youtube video on how to do so. IS there any tutorial out there? preferably free? THANX in advanced! Really hope I can get some guidance.

Awesome video! I am having trouble though, when I try to composite the photos together the final video has a black background but the pngs have transparent backgrounds. Any way to get a transparent background video like yours?
@SurfacedStudio4 жыл бұрын
How are you compositing your photos together? Whatever software you are using are you exporting in a format that has an alpha channel (aka transparency)?
